The battery has nearly twice the run time of the standard battery. It can't be recharged with the old charger that can with the tool, so you'll need the upgraded charger. I bought a 2nd battery and a charger after the 1st battery finally ran out of steam - - which happens quickly - full function to no function in about 10 seconds - - so it's good to have a 2nd battery charged and ready. I was pleasantly surprised by how long it lasted with a full working load.

The off brand batteries always seem just about the same as the expensive name brands, don't they?

The first battery was useful once. Just once. It took an initial charge in my Hitachi charger, and then did not hold a charge since. However, the seller sent a replacement even though it was out of warranty (much appreciated). Upon receiving it, I charged it and then used it in one small project. Then I charged it again and it seemed to take a charge. Without using it a lot, it is tough to say how reliable it is, but so far so good.

I was very hesitant to buy one of these after market batteries, because of numerous reviews stating that OEM chargers wouldn't charge these batteries. Luckily, the battery I received charges very well using my OEM charger. ( Note: At first, my OEM charger registered this battery as broken. However, after I pulled the battery and reinserted it back into my charger, it started charging properly. I never had this problem again.)So far this battery is performing very well.

Although the first battery we received only lasted a single charge before shorting out internally, the company did replace it, fast and free, and the second battery is now working great. We have used it multiple times now with no issues. A good buy.
