It is amazing how they captured in a simple form how to not just figure out the complexities of financial ratios but how to communicate them. I have purchased copies for my team and even leadership above me. Even if you understand ratios please consider this book it is a perfect inexpensive tool.Any group (marketing, IT, sales, even HR) and any size organization needs a copy of this book to really understand how to value your decision.

Each ratio is categorized into one of the following categories: Market value ratios, Liquidity ratios, Performance ratios, Cash flow ratios, Profitability ratios and Debt ratios. Each page then highlights the type of ratio, the formula, description, detailed example and additional comments and insights. The layout of the book if very easy to follow and a great tool for both financial and non-financial managers and executives who are looking for an easy-to-use reference book on financial ratios!

Great little book with a very handy overview of financial ratios. All easily accessible and all with a brief explanation as to type of ratio, formula for calculating the ratio, an example, and additional comments. If a ratio is known under more than one name, it is explained under the respective names. Perfect reference book for a non-financial executive like me who needs some quick and accessible facts about financial ratios from time to time.

I really like the way this topic was broken down and presented. The Ratios Overview (chapter 1) groups the ratios based on their intended use making them easy to apply to certain types of analyses. The layout of the Ratio Descriptions in Chapter 2 make them easier to understand, and including example financial statements nicely illustrates their use in a real world context. Wish I had this book when I was taking my business courses. A great reference book.

I have worked in finance for over 10 years and this is by far the simplest, most straightforward reference book for financial ratios. It gets right to the point and tells you what the ratio is, what it means, and a basic example of how it applies. It's basically a dictionary for all calculations needed for managing and evaluating a business. I cannot recommend it enough.

The authors provide a very clear and accessible set of fundamental and more complex ratios, important to all managers and executives. The writing is straightforward and accessible, making it easy for experts and those less familiar with finance to select and use these measures. I particularly appreciated inclusion of the fictionalized statement so readers can follow along.I would also recommend this book for any investor - these measures are critical for evaluating and comparing company performance both over time and among peers.
