Awesome Clipper!!
After adopting our first doodle, I was excited to welcome a dog into the family. However, no one ever tells you about how matted they get from a young age. After trying all the detangling shampoos and magical brushes, I decided just to have my doodle professionally groomed.Despite this, after paying a hefty sum regularly to have my doodle groomed, I was determined to do it myself. While I’m not a professionally trained groomer, I would call myself proficient with dog clippers after watching countless Youtube videos. Over the years, I’ve tried many other dog clippers that were on the less expensive side. However, they were very loud and overheated too often. When I found these dog clippers on Amazon I decided to give them a shot because they were highly rated. The soft case that comes with the kit isn’t too bulky and fits all of the parts perfectly. For the most part I’ve been nothing but pleased. The clippers themselves are lightweight and require some pressure to activate the on-switch (other brands have a power button right where you hand rests and can be annoying). I thought professional grade clippers would be even louder, but to my surprise these were on the quiet side. I also appreciate the blade adjustment along the underside of the clippers. It enabled me to get a clean, even, and precise cut that I’ve never experienced before. Having doodles means dealing with mats, but I was shocked to see how well these clippers cut through dreads. I recently adopted another doodle who is very skittish and I was eager to test out the clippers on him. While his fur is less curly because he is a sheepadoodle, the clippers still tackled those dreads very well. However, like most clippers, there are some flaws. I was disappointed to discover that these clippers overheat. I always check the temperature of the blades throughout the shaving process, so that my pup doesn’t get razor burn. The Wahl clippers began to warm up after thirty minutes of shaving. Not to mention, I did notice that in the especially dreaded areas they began to heat up faster. Therefore, I would recommend checking the clippers temperature frequently no matter your dog's hair type.Furthermore, while the Wahl clippers were cooling down I found lots of hair stuck in the base of the clippers. I had to really tug at it to finally get the fur off.I appreciate how the Wahl clippers come with two rechargeable batteries, however the charging base always glows red, no matter how long they have been charging. Despite this when I tested the batteries to see if they held the charge, they worked fine. Maybe it's just a design flaw?Overall, these Wahl clippers have proved to be a great investment into my dog's hair care. They cut through hair like butter and hold a nice charge. They aren’t too noisy which can often scare dogs and come with two rechargeable batteries which is a must when tackling multiple shaves in a day. Not everyone has the kind of lifestyle that can afford spending the time and money to shave your pet. But if you can, these clippers are the ones to invest in. While they have some minor flaws, their pros make them worth it.

From great starter clipper set to dead batteries 1.5 years later
Updated review after owning for 1.5 years:Batteries no longer hold a charge. I place them on the charger a day prior to clipping, keeping one of them on the charger right up until I am ready to groom. I get about 10 minutes of life from the battery that was just plugged in and when that dies, I try the other battery and it barely lasts a minute. Looks like new batteries are about $50. Wouldn't expect a battery to go dead this quickly. I store them inside (temp controlled) and have used the clippers about once a month to every month and a half for the last year and a half. I can no longer recommend this product based on the clipper battery life.I'd recommend these clippers for beginners as they are easy to use, decent price point and clip nicely.I purchased this clipper set to groom my standard poodle puppy. Prior to purchasing these clippers, I had never groomed a dog before so was looking for something that was easy to use and not going to break the bank in case I was an awful groomer and decided to send him to a professional. These clippers are super easy to use and come with all of the tools that you'll need. I've used them a handful of times and like keeping my dog's hair longer so will clip him about every 3 weeks. The combs that come with the clippers are plastic and they work, but I'd recommend getting metal combs if you plan on grooming regularly. Wahl sells metal compatible combs. Additionally the charge on the battery is very good. It comes with two batteries so you can replace it during a grooming session if needed. They take some time to charge fully but it's not a problem since you have two. Finally, the clipper sound is not too loud and it doesn't bother my dog. I got him used to the clipper sound first before actually grooming him (turn it on and feed him a bunch of treats) and then also touching him with it when it was off. Keeping a puppy still for any type of activity is tough of course and I didn't want to buy a table and restrict him so I purchased a suction cup mat, fill it with peanut butter and freeze it, stick it to a surface (or have somebody else help distract) and groom him while he stands on the floor.

Packaging description is not as described
After opening up this Wahl Arco cordless clipper, I noticed that the box packaging shows that there should be two rechargeable batteries yet there is only one. The instruction manual is pretty basic, only instructions on how to charge the battery and blades and minor troubleshooting. The manual does not explain anything about the blades themselves such as the differences in usage, how to use the different blade lengths, etc. You have to research that on your own. (Then again, this is a “professional” model.) The clipper itself runs well but it does have a considerable buzzing noise so if your pet is squirrely, it would require a gentle breaking in. The clipper is easy to handle and use however, I found out by using this product that it may have been a bit too wide for a small pet paw area. Maybe the Bravura Mini may have been a better option but I can make do with this. Overall, the clipper is good but deceptive packaging is not.

works great!
works beautifully on my very furry horse. Clipped his pasterns in a flash. And it is quiet, which is important if your animal is noise sensitive!
