Versatile - Acceessible - Comfortable - JUST BUY IT
Avid hiker/camper, first time hunter. I'm a fan of backpacks for all scenarios in my life, traveling, work, school, hiking, mountain biking, disneyland, and now hunting. As a bowhunter and ultralight hiker, I was looking for something to store all my gear for a 2-3 day hunt, fend off any weather conditions and be comfortable. After much research I decided to go with the Tenzing TZ 3000, there aren't many reviews or videos out there but based off previous versions of the pack and similar ones, I had a gut feeling this would work. And it has been more than an exceptional pack. I have been on a 3 two-day hunts now and the pack has more than enough room for all my gear. Again, I'm an ultralight camper/hiker so naturally I bring only the bare essentials, down gear for sleeping and my field dressing kits. I stick to freeze dried foods and gather water from the streams. The outside materials is both soft and tough, the added rain bag is an added bonus. From inside the main compartment, you can access the secondary compartment via inside zipper as well as the two side compartments which also have a second zipper tab on the inside. Never had this added luxury in any of my other packs. Great for access your gear from one compartment, expanding into other compartments and whatever else your creative mind desires.Weight on the hips, not the shoulders. I hiked about 4 miles on average fully loaded without any issues.Bow stayed perfectly strapped in the holster. Hip pockets were perfect and close zipped towards your hips. Arm clearance of the hip pockets was superb, my forearms were untouched. In a tree stand, it was easy to haul my pack up with 20' of paracord and I was so relieved that I didn't have to tie my bow, instead it stayed strapped to the pack and never hinted at falling out. I attach the 20' of paracord to my tree stand as a marker so that I dont go too high or too low. In a tree stand, I can access my main compartment through the side compartment thanks to the added access inside, I dont have to reach over the top of the pack or stand up. AWESOME feature when being stealth.Secondary compartment has two zippered mesh pockets on the inside of the flap and 3 zippered mesh compartments on the opposite side. Everything is well organized and kept locked in, even if you forget to zip it all the way and falls open.I absolutely love this pack and might use it for camping, not just hunting. It has yet to fail me or not offer me. The versatility of this pack leaves it open to many ideas and opportunities for packing out game.

waist band too small, broken buckle
Overall this pack did ok for a all day Colorado back country elk hunt. I was able to pack out an elk rear quarter in the main compartment. The biggest problem I have with this pack is the waist band. When carrying heavy loads it is really important to be able to load the weight on your hips using the waist band. My waist is 34" and I could not tighten the band all the way thus having the weight hang on my shoulders more than I would prefer. Also, the straps for the waist band are excessively long and this was annoying when bushwhacking. Also the second day I used this pack the buckle that holds your bow on the back broke - this was really disappointing. I hope that tensing will replace this. This pack would be great if I could get a smaller waist band.

My husband enjoyed using this backpack as a substitute for his suitcase ...
My husband enjoyed using this backpack as a substitute for his suitcase on a recent trip. However, when he tried to zip up the pack for storage until next use last week, discovered one of the zippers had come apart. Attempts to contact Tenzing by email failed--never heard a word from them. However, contacted Amazon and explained the situation and they sent us a mailing label to return the item and made arrangements to send us a replacement pack. Very pleased so far.

I really like this pack, but not for Elk.
This pack fits comfortably, and has numerous individual pockets. The pack is great for deer, antelope, mountain lion, and coyote hunting. I think of it as a deluxe day pack. Only thing I don't like is the Weapon Carrying System for a rifle. The boot for the stock is fine, but the strap that goes across to secure your rifle to the pack doesn't work very good. Way too much play moving side to side. However, a compound bow works really good.

Impressive Pack
Very functional and rugged backpack. Everything is intuitively designed. It is such a pleasure owning this after having had so many cut-rate packs in which seams would tear and zippers would break. I have stuffed this full on multiple occasions practically daring the zippers to drop a tooth or a stich to pop. Has not happened. This is a ten year pack and although pricey .. if you do the math it is no more costly than buying 3-4 cheap packs over the same period.

Very nice backpack, one small tweak.
Great backpack, lots of cool features. love the pocket sizes, comfortable, easy to use, etc. Looks to be very good quality. The Only thing I don't like is the nylon material on the inside is noisy.

This pack is great!
Pack was everything I hoped for and more. Plenty of room and comfortable to use. You cannot go wrong with this pack. Great for a day in the field or a couple days.

Good, but needs some upgrades.
Works good.Would change where the on/off button is. Unit turns on easlily by itself when carried in backpack. The ground stake for mounting it is not so conducive for frozen ground. Would have been better with a small tripod type base.
