Perfect for use on campus and on the road
I am an older college student (69) and I have a high end gaming computer that I use at home with internet speeds of 300+ mps. I needed something that was slim and light weight but still had most of the performance of my desktop at a very reasonable price. This Acer has been perfect. It is light and quick, has plenty of hard drive space with a 500 gig SSD and a removable 250 gig SD card for supplemental storage (I already had the SD card) the 13.5 inch screen is a nice compromise between the added weight of a 15 inch and usability. the screen is clear and the colors vibrant. the 3 usb ports and an HDMI port allow for almost any peripheral device. The only down side is the speakers, they don't provide much volume but I use head phones when at school and the sound is very good. If I need to do a presentation, I will connect via HDMI or use external speakers. Battery life has been great. I leave fully charged in the morning and still have plenty of life when I return home in the evening. Another nice thing is that the case is aluminum where many in this price range are plastic. I opted not to get the touch screen. One thing I do like about this unit is the general lack of junk pre-installed. There is some but nowhere near the junk that I have seen on laptops of other manufacturers. I spent less than 30 minutes total getting setup with Microsoft office along with a few personal favorites and getting the school wifi and my home wifi functioning. I travel by motorcycle and this fits easily in the tour pack of my bike and connects easily to hotel wifi. I have had Acers in the past which I used for business and for teaching, this laptop has lived up to my high expectations. I purchased it in August and 3 months later it performs flawlessly. For me, this was a great purchase

A good bargain
Great laptop. Although the fingerprint pad is atrocious

If you need LTE
I purchased this notebook specifically for its LTE functionality, there aren't many Intel based notebooks that offer this. There are quite a few LTE connected Qualcomm ARM based notebooks available, but those devices are severely under powered.I am using a T-Mobile sim card with this notebook and it worked instantly without a hitch. It is so amazing to be able to open the lid on my notebook and have it already connected to the web and ready to go. I am getting a strong signal with usually 4 bars strength. Something that needs to be done immediately after first powering this thing on is to update its firmware, you'll get better LTE signal strength and some minor bugs will be squashed after doing this. The Intel 8th Gen 8250U equipped here is a true quad-core part, and it is fast. The notebook runs cool, and I can never hear its fan operating even when it's fully ramped up. The 8GB of DDR4 memory is sufficient for most tasks, but lots of open tabs in Chrome will cause minor slow downs. Something I have discovered to be the real star of the show in this notebook is something that I didn't even know came equipped - a Kingston NVMe SSD. This Solid State Drive is blazing fast, it make the notebook turn on and off like it's a light switch. If you're coming from a device with an older type of storage system, the speed and transfer rates of this Kingston SSD will feel borderline absurd. If there is one single disappointment I feel toward this notebook, I would say it's the build quality. While the lid and the inner frame around the display are aluminum, the rest of the chassis is plastic. Some Acer Swift 3 models come with an all aluminum chassis, but this specific model with the LTE modem does not. Cellular reception may have been what caused Acer to go with plastic here, but it's kind of a bummer. Still though, this is an incredibly thin and light notebook that is effortless to carry around. It fits inside of an office envelope just like the Mac book Air did in Apples original TV spot. I am getting about 7hrs of battery life out of this device, but I keep my screen brightness a bit higher than most.Something that is not important to most, but was important to me is the fact that this notebook can play many PC games. Halo, Skyrim, UT, and Minecraft all play decent enough. And my games that require an internet connection such as Eve Online and WoW go hand in hand with this notebook since it has a built in internet connection.Bottom line, if you need an Intel notebook that always has internet, and you're tired of tethering off of your phone, you should buy this. It has very few competitors, and the ones that are out there cost about $700+ more. If you DO NOT need the LTE connection then I'd go for something else with an all aluminum chassis.

Not exactly a macbook air but...
Great value for money. This a a fast little computer that was purchased for a professional blogger/writer. It is similar in look to a macbook air and the light up keyboard is awesome. The build quality is not as solid as a macbook air, but it seem durable and it is light.

It's plastic. No SE card slot, no eSim card (LTE) and Win10 Home
The computer I received is NOT the computer shown on Amazon's website. The computer shown is a model Swift 3 SF313-51-86QH; what I've received is a SF314-59-75QC. First, what it doesn't have:1) it's plastic. Amazon doesn't say it's metal, but Acer does, and the pics on the Acer website clearly show striations on the case that are indicative of metal. This is very disappointing because I was expecting a full metal case.2) It doesn't have a SD card slot. The website features don't list a SD card slot, but if you zoom in on the top picture, there's something on the left (facing) side that looks a lot like a card slot. Also, one of the reviewers in the Q & A stated that it DOES HAVE a SD slot.3) It's not LTE capable. Here again, one of the reviewers stated that the LTE was his reason for purchasing this model, but there's no SIM slot nor ESIM on the computer I received. What is does have:1) The Amazon website lists the process or as 8th Gen Intel Core i7; the computer I rec'd has a 11th Gen Intel Core I7 processor - so, I got a later processor.2) The computer I rec'd is on the EVO platform - the one advertised is not. EVO is an Intel thing and is Intel's method of certifying that the computer meets certain Intel specifications. These specifications may also impose some limitations according to reviewers; I'll leave it to the reader to do your own research on EVO.3) It has Window 10 Home as shown on the Amazon website. However, a reviewer stated in the Q & A that it comes with Windows 10 Pro.Am I going to keep it? I haven't decided. The SD card slot & eSim were important to me. I'll evaluate the performance, and maybe if it performs well, I'll get over the misrepresentations.

Well-made case.
Unit seems very well made. Time will tell regarding durability and battery life. Only complain is the volume on the speakers is not loud. Not a deal breaker but if someone prefers speakers over headphones, this may be an issue.
