Wonderful
A little bit contemporary a little bit historical fiction and they mesh so well. A true love story of two different woman hundreds of years apart who leave one life to find happiness in another land.

Great plotting
I don't read many Danielle Steel books because I'm more of a character-first type reader but the plot to this book captured my attention immediately. I've read that the research Steel does for her books takes longer than the actually writing of the book, and this book is actually about a woman researching her past. This book is fascinating and kept me reading far into the night.Legacy starts out with a woman who works in admissions in a Boston university. She passes up promotions and never asks her boyfriend of 6 years if they're going anywhere. I won't give away any more plot, except to say that if you're not going forward you're going backwards. Life doesn't allow us to stay in one place.I love books where I learn something, and Legacy teaches plenty. Lots of history, how to research your own genealogy and a lesson on finding your passion. All these lessons are wrapped up in a great story line told by a master story-teller.What I'm not crazy about in a Steel novel is that her characters are too perfect. She uses the word beautiful to describe one of the main characters as many times as Pulp Fiction dropped the F bomb (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, Pulp Fiction didn't use it that many times). I prefer characters that have faults(not as many as I have or it wouldn't be believable) and who overcome those faults. Steel's characters overcome circumstances, but being as perfect as they are, how could they not?But again, that's not why I picked up this book, and while perfect characters, just as perfect people, can become annoying, I was able to overlook their perfection and enjoy a great plot-driven novel.A totally worthwhile escapism novel and up to Danielle Steel's high standards. The kind of book you can safely buy before getting on an airplane and enjoy during a coast-to-coast ride.

Its another Steele well- told story
Good story as always - good characterization - At least in my option. If you don't enjoy Steele's books--well don't try to read them.As I said once before, the only one I didn't finish and threw in the trash was Toxic Bachelor's--So awful. I am now re=reading one of her earlier books.

Fulfilling and nurturing story spanning centuries.
I always love the character development of Ms. Steel's writing and the story of Bridgitte was even more complex. Initially I didn't want to be transferred from the 21st century Boston to the 1700's, but when the connection was revealed, I thoroughly enjoyed being immersed into the description of the landmarks and relationships.

The name "Danielle Steel"
Danielle Steel delivered yet again! This book was just as awesome as all of her others. One cannot go wrong reading a Danielle Steel book. Thanks again Danielle!

An easy read
I didn't love this one. The story was a bit far fetched. And as a genealogist knows, the information you seek never comes this easy. It wasn't a bad story, just too predictable for me.

Family and community
Interesting story about how family and community can change your life and yet keep it on a path.

A novel well worth reading.
I haven't read a Danielle Steel novel for years but this one appealed to me and I was glad I had made the choice. The story line was very interesting. I have lived in France in the past and studied aspects of French history but had never heard of the presence of Sioux visitors at the French court. There is evidence of extensive research in the novel and it is well written. I only awarded the book four stars because I found the modern day heroine irritating, even though I understood the reasons for her very cautious and listless approach to life but that is a personal reaction.

Did not enjoy or finish this book
I did not connect with the main characters and after reading about a quarter of the book I gave up. Perhaps it improved as the story progressed but I am afraid I did not give it that chance

Enthralling book
Having read many of Danielle bookshops over the years it never ceases to amaze me in her story lines. Going back in time to find ones ancestors this time is such an interesting subject - would like to have known what happened to Marc and Bridgette
