Super Cells

As a first grade teacher, explaining something like sickle cell disease is a very hard concept for children to understand this book put things into a simple perspective of how people with sickle cell disease body functions and how they may be.Great book, great illustrations

This is a super cute book. I got it to try and explain sickle cell to my nieces and nephews. They absolutely love the book, and understand about sickle cell. For example, the other day I was standing up and I started hurting out the blue, and one of my nieces(8) said “aunty, are you hurting like Giselle from the book. You might need to go to the hospital so they can you give you superpowers and beat sickles(we still working on how to say it lol) cell and you won’t hurt anymore”. I had only read the book twice to them and they remembered that. After my niece said this to me, she got out the book so she could read it to her younger siblings. I recommend this book to anybody with any young children. My 2yr old niece understands what sickle cell is cause this book, and she knows that every Monday her and her mom takes me(her aunty) to the hospital to get superpowers and feel better. She knows this cause of the book. As I read to them, I broke down times where it applied to my life and they were with me. Ex: them taking me to treatment every week. Again, my nieces and nephews love the book, and I love the book. I hope the author writes another part to this book.

Great children's book. Only comment is that there are several blank pages in the back of the book, which left me wondering if the book was indeed finished.

This book is Super Amazing. Great for all ages!

The last several pages are blank, story ends abruptly. It’s a very basic intro into SCD & cute but I wish it was complete.
