Who likes cutting chestnuts? This tool is definitely a better option and works most of the time but you do need round chestnuts. The flats ones won’t work so try to stay clear of those for this tool. Overall I would use buy it again, it does make the task easier.

This does work.. but you need to have some strength and you need to have bigger more round chestnuts.The smaller and flatter ones were impossible to do... At one point we put something in with the chestnut so it would sit up higher. I will use it again.. But will definitely need to watch the size of the chestnuts.

Cutting the slits in a chestnut with a knofe can be treacherous. This gadget really works. It does take a little playing with to get the technique right. I found that placing the flat (or flatter) side of the nut towards the needles which score the nut works best. Also, it took quite a bit of hand strength to cut into the nut. However, you won't need bandages afterwards.

Handle was a little too flexible,and there was no explanation of the little yellow plastic part that came with it. I take it's clean the teeth of the tool. When I score chestnuts I sometimes have to use both hands. But still a good tool.

This works well. Tried with chestnuts which can be a pain and saved a ton of time. Some of the nuts were a little on the smaller side and were a little less scored than ideal but still worked.

I haven’t used it yet because I bought it for Italian chestnuts which are only available at the end of the year. I wanted to make sure I had it for next time, if I didn’t get it now I would probably forget about it.

I looked at various suppliers of what appears to be the same item before buying this, so this isn't a comment about BIGSUNNY but rather about the item itself. Indeed I said it wasn't as expected and got an immediate refund.I purchased a bag of chestnuts from my local supermarket. Out of the bag the opener scored 19 nuts just fine. The remaining 26 it didn't manage to cut the skin. That's because the nuts aren't all huge "fat" things. If you're using it on large nuts then it will be fine. But most bags of chestnuts contain a bit of size variation. The 26 that weren't big enough for it this opener either made a small perforated mark, or literally did nothing. The result was that I had to use a knife to cross them as I usually would - meaning that this opener isn't doing the job I got it for.Good looking bit of kit. But that's where it stops.

It works but not durable I thought it was going to be metal but it’s plastic. Like I said it works but it won’t last
