Great Headset!
This headset is so great, I wanted to do a video review... which I will, real soon and will post it on the youtube under the name username.Ok, on with the review:Build Quality: (9/10)These are great quality headphones! The only problem I have is that the ear part twists and locks, and it feels like it can break easily, but it doesn't, when I use it. Not only does it look nice, it is nice.Audio Quality: (9/10)I almost want to give it a 10 out of 10, but it does have some flaws. When I have my earphones on, I can't hear anything going on around me, which is good and bad, depending on the situation. It's not that. The thing that is bad is the audio leakage. What I hear, other people hear it, too. Other than that, the bass and treble and everything in between is great! Bass is bumping! Voice is clear! I can even hear the acoustic guitar struming, which I never heard before. It has that squeak sound. Anyways, great new experience!Comfort: (7/10)It goes around the head nice, but it does get annoying, but you do get used to it, and it does slip off your head easily. These are both good and bad depending on the situation, but bad for the most part. Other than that, it fits comfortable around the ears.Overall: (9/10)This is a solid product. Great sound. Great sound quality. Great product. It's just great. I never had any problems. I did read some issues on here, but I never ran into them. I'm not rough with my item. I don't slam them on my ears nor do I drag or pull them off abruptly. They're headphones, any headphone will break if you abuse them. If you treat them as they are, they will last and will be nice to you, too.I totally love these and you should definitely give them a try. If you are a mid-level audiophile, they're definitely for you. If you want high end audio, give them a try. They're still great!Extra: I have been using these headphones for 3 weeks in a row with all my songs that takes advantage of bass and treble and vocals. I listened to online radio stream. I listen to youtube audio. I did as much as I can and used them with every type of genre of music and these things performed well. I really wanted to test them out before I did a review. I didn't want to write with my first impressions. These are expensive headphones and if you buy them, you SHOULD know how they fair. They fair well, quit well. I would definitely recommend them.

Decent, but Audio Technica ATH-M50 Better Value at this Price Point
I bought these headphones because I was looking for exceptional audio quality and appreciate the Pioneer brand. I must admit that these headphones do sound impressive. The only problems I see are comfort and durability. The muffs sit on your rather than around it which leads to discomfort after prolonged use. As for the durability, many people have claimed that these break easily and I would agree. While mine haven't broken yet (I just received them recently), the construction is entirely plastic and feels cheap. They even used plastic on high-wear areas like the ball joints.Pros:-Great audio qualityCons:-Plastic construction-Uncomfortable (Muffs sit on the ear rather than around it)At this price point, I would have to recommend the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 Professional Studio Monitor Headphones instead. They're more comfortable, have better construction and have great audio as well.

Keeping Super Glue In Business
These headphones are keeping Super Glue in business! They have broken multiple times where the ear piece and head band connect. The sound is great, but the headphones have glue marks all over the place. I regret not paying for "Beats"!

Best Ever
These headphones are the best I have ever had. I use them for DJ work and they are great. The padding around the cups is soft leather and does not hurt or become uncomfortable after extended use. Same goes doe the headband. I've worn these for 5-6 sessions with no discomfort at all.The sound out of these is well balanced and unlike other headphones in the range there is very little bleed from the base. They are not booming with bass which is great because is does not over power other sounds.I like the stereo/mono switch because most clubs mono connections and mixing that way makes it more accurate for your audience. But then I switch to stereo for home and studio use. They have updated these with a new model but I still prefer these for the look and feel of great headphones.

Why they will break
The sound is excellent; what you'd expect from Pioneer. But this is my second pair that broke the same way. Like others, I baby my equipment really really well, but the headphones GUARANTEED will break at the ball joint.I'm not guessing; it's a flaw in the design. Whatever polymer they use to make the headphone body is weak, and joins down the middle (you can see a seam). The seam over time will fatigue, because of the way the outward pressure "pulls" the ball out toward that seam. It's simple physics that the plastic/polymer holding piece holding that ball joint eventually fatigues and cracks open, meaning that one day your heaphones, as you go to put them on, will just pop apart.Do a google search for HDJ1000 break if you're skeptical.Only gets 2 stars because the sound is excellent; these headphones WILL fail. DO NOT BUY THEM.I also, after fixing the joints with electrical tape, very quickly started noticing that the earpiece covers have started to desintigrate. All of the black material covering the pads is coming off, leaving little black specs stuck to my ears every time I take them off. Bad quality, which is a bummer because I like the sound.
