Built to Last
When I bought this key reel it was because the one I had held my 7 work-related keys and then unraveled like a yo-yo 🙄.This one is BUILT for multiple keys. You can feel it in its weight. It has a no nonsense clip that stays put on the waistband of my pants, and I like having the option to hang it from my lanyard too, or clip it to my belt loops. It's a slim design so it doesn't feel clunky. And the cord is durable, smooth, and quiet. I also really like to option to lock my key reel so I can take the pressure off the reel, and so I can toss it in my purse without worry.Great key reel!

Not bad but definitely not the best
I want to start out by saying I don’t think this item is trash or garbage. It works for ME. But I had to do some modifications to make it work for ME. Because it didn’t work right out of the box, which is what most customers would want and expect, I cannot give it many stars.I work in a warehouse that has a policy of having your badge showing at all times. The belt clips they gave us were plastic fragile garbage that get destroyed due to the environment of the warehouse. I wanted a rugged metal one and I found this one. It feels heavy, feels quality, and to an extent it is. But it has failed me multiple times in the past.First failure was the actual belt clip. It wasn’t really a failure that happened but it would have eventually so I wanted to prevent that before it happened. It comes with a clipping hook that goes over the belt clip. Seems like a great design aside from one thing. It comes back off as easily as it goes on. I need it to stay put. So I had to drill a hole in the belt clip and install a small hex screw with thread locker to keep it in place. But a few months later I went to go clock out one day and my badge is missing. ??? What? Where’d it go? The clip itself was still on my belt loop, but the black box holding my badge was missing. Searched everywhere I been in the warehouse and found it after 20mins on the ground beside a ladder. Failure was the soft metal holding the clip in got worn over time I suppose and slipped through. I slipped it back in and crimped it down as hard as I could with a pair of multi tool pliers I had on hand. This should not have happened at all. So now I’ve got it in the back of my head that I’ve gotta crimp this thing down so I don’t lose it again. Something I shouldn’t have to worry about.Second failure was I was going to clock out one morning and heard a loud metal clanking sound hitting the floor. There I am, frozen, badge in hand halfway to time clock, coworkers giggling at me and cracking jokes(as was I). I look down, the black part of the badge holder had come undone. Half was still clipped to my belt loop, other half on the ground. What? I pick up the pieces and take it home. Look more closely and the center screw is missing. What? Why? Why is this screw missing? So I went and found another screw that would fit it and put thread locker on it so it would not come apart again. I’m highly doubting the company used thread locker on it from the factory because this would not have happened if they did.I’ve seen other people posting pictures of how their cable broke. That has not happened to me yet, but I took a close look before writing this and I can see where it could happen in the future. Mine is looking pretty worn so I included a picture of that so others could see how it looks after a few months of use. With all that being said, and after the modifications I’ve had to make, I still kinda like this badge holder(it was the only one I could find at the time that was metal), and I can only recommend it to those who are willing to modify it a bit. But for those looking for a metal badge holder that works correctly out of the box, this is not one I could recommend you.It was one of the only ones I found that was metal and looked durable enough. I mean it can take a beating for sure, but the failures have come from design flaws that I hope the company will improve on. I mean come on, if I can improve this thing at home with common hand tools, so can the company that mass produces them. There’s no excuse for not using thread locker on that center screw. The whole point is to keep my badge safely on me and secure, not go hunting for it because it’s laying on the ground somewhere because the hook slipped through the ring.I noticed the company has another metal badge holder clip. Looks like the ring is secured to the square box. I might give that a try, but I’m hesitant now. Depends if I can’t find a better one to replace my current one. It still works for now and I still use it, but if it fails again I will be looking for another.EDITJan 17 2023So it finally happened and the steel cable broke. It didn’t even make it a year after my purchase. It broke just now while I’m at work. Makes me so mad I stopped what I’m doing to write this. I was relying on this cable in case my multi tool slipped from my hand it wouldn’t fall 30ft to the ground and hit somebody. Idk if you’ll be able to tell from the recent pics but I’m a decent height up. If that hit somebody it could really hurt them. Luckily it broke while it was in my pocket. I have the clip on my belt loop with the multi tool attached but also in my pocket. Don’t waste you’re money on this junk. Unreliable

2 bad cords in 30 days
I bought this specifically for my work keys which I pull out tru out my workday. After 10 days the dyneema cord came out of the reinforced closure. The Replacement arrives, I looped it around the closure ring & 3 weeks later the cord just pops out again. I’d keep it, but as you can see when the cord pops out the retractable mechanism stops working. I’m passed my return date so I won’t be ordering this item again. I’ll look for a stronger retractable key holder.

Sleek and Durable
TL;DRGreat device and definitely worth the money.I love these types of devices because they're the most convenient way to keep your keys together and on you, so you don't forget and leave them (the only time I ever locked myself out of the office was the one time I foolishly took it off *facepalm*). This device was great; it wasn't too bulky, never slipped or fell off my belt, and the cord is durable. My only complaint is that I've only had it for a little over a year and, while the cord never thinned out, frayed, or otherwise lost integrity, the end piece eventually snapped off. I suppose, after frequent, daily use, it's to be expected. I just wish it would have lasted longer. As far as the locking mechanism is concerned, I can say it works as expected. While it's a good feature and does help if you have kids who like to pull on your clothes/jewelry, it was honestly kind of annoying. I'm not sure how it would affect the integrity of the lock, because you obviously don't want it to just fall or slip into an unlocked state, but I wish it were easier to lock/unlock. To give some context, because of how the hole and locking mechanism are shaped, you have the insert the end cap almost perfectly perpendicular to the device and slide straight into the lock. When you're wearing this clipped to your belt, it becomes slightly difficult because your hand is naturally and slightly angled away in the opposite direction of the lock.I'm sure this would be easier to explain in person; so, I'll just say this: the lock feature works but it could use some improvement to make using it easier while wearing the device.

Not long lasting but fine
It did the job, but the cord snapped after 3 months of constant use at a hospital

Good, lasted 4 months
I am very hard on these things so it's not shocking.I really liked the carabiner on it, I put it on my briefcase and would snap it there when not at work. Will probably buy again.

Strong but heavy
Very safe and good size to clip to belt. Extremely strong and feels very safe especially when the cord is 'locked-in'.Biggest point against is the weight; extremely heavy for something so small.

Lasted, maybe, a year and the cable Broke
Worked very well - for a time. Disappointed when the cable broke within a year and lost all my keys. Being an apartment building manager there was considerable expense in rekeying of lockes for various Master and individual keys. SAD...OLD REVIEW: LOVE Belt Key Holder - have tried many others broke in a week. This one is very sturdy, thus heavy. The"Lock" feature is a nice option. My only complaint is the screw holding the belt clip to the unit has a washer underneath which catches when pushing over my belt and causes scratches on the leather. Took the screw out, removed the washer, put the screw back in - now it doesnt catch and doesn't damage leather belts.Great product - would def buy again

Twice the price but more than twice as good.
Seems to be of good quality. I am not using this for anything heavy duty, just a keycard and namebadge, but it's performing well. I bought a cheaper type that still had a metal case and metal cable and it broke within a couple of months. This seems to have a properly solid metal housing, a thicker and more flexible metal cable, and a stronger reel mechanism than others ive used. The locking action is also sufficient and easy to engage/disengage. Id say it's worth the money and id buy it again, but at this rate I wont have to.

Very sturdy
I mean I just received it but it's heavier than it looks. Seems really sturdy so far. I'm happy with what I bought. I'm sure I'll be back
