Arches Cottom Block is simply my favorite no taping needed watercolor paper. It is all I use. It is expensive but worth the consistent quality.

Good Quality watercolor paper.
Good quality paper for serious water colorists. The block style keeps the paper in place and readily usable. Arches is a highly regarded brand of quality paper. Highly recommend.

Best watercolor paper available!
Watercolor paper just doesn't get better than arches. The make THE highest quality paper that I have ever used, and I will need no other brand. The cold press paper is bumpy in comparison to the hot press and creates more muted tones from the paints. I like to use this for darker subject matter. It is still very easy to draw on with pencils and Micron pens. I also enjoy using water soluble sketch pencils with this paper. This paper is definitely more expensive that the stuff I started out with on the big pad from the craft store. But it is worth the price if you are looking for professional appearance and presentation in your works. High quality paper like this is labor and time intensive. When you compare how watercolor paint looks on this paper to another brand there is HUGE difference in depth and color. It really feels like the aper does most of the work!

Absolutely love this block of quality paper!
For some reason I did not realize this was a "block" of paper. I was told from day one of my lessons that you can go with cheap brushes, even paint, but always go with good paper. Not having much money and going through lots of practice paper, I went with cheaper papers. Now that I am painting more seriously, I figured to get at better grade paper and this was often a favorite by the instructor. Oh, my goodness, it is more expensive, but so worth it. I love this paper and the glued block feature is great. I know I should try other types of paper eventually, but for now this is my favorite watercolor paper.

Arches is THE BEST.
This is the best watercolor paper out there. It is worth every penny. It's not difficult to remove pages from the block, as long as you have a nice metal pallette knife with a sharp enough edge. This paper can withstand a LOT of water and scrubbing. This was my first experience using a block and I love it, but I have also since purchased a different, still very high end paper, and the paper peeled off the block after a few washes. This is THE BEST. I will never purchase any other brand of watercolor paper ever again. This is THE brand. Check around for pricing though. I've found better deals through some of the larger online art supply stores. Depending on the day. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, because of the cost and the fact that this paper is meant for a piece that you plan to frame upon completion. And you'll appreciate it that much more when you're ready for it...

Excellent paper
Love Arches cold press!
I**.

Being an amateur painter, I was not sure what a 'block' would be like. Very pleased to be able to paint without stretching and taping the paper! Great quality too - makes all the difference to how my pictures look!
