4.5/5 Stars for Two Reasons
Overall, the product works as intend which makes me happy. However, there are two things that are important to know when buying these.1) After letting the panels decompress from shipment, I used the method that was recommended by the manufacturer: Soak in water, wring out the water, and then air dry. After that process, which took 8 hours to a full day (much less then waiting 48+ hours), the panels didn't measure evenly. Some of them were a little bigger than 12"x12" and some smaller. Only a few were the correct size. Some of the corners are still pinched and seem like they will stay that way permanently.2) Because they don't come with any adhesive to stick on the surface you want them, you will have to find a method to do so. It's recommended by several people online to use Command Strips, which are normally used for hanging up posters and other objects without damaging the surface you are putting them on. Unfortunately the strips do not stick well to the panels, which isn't really the fault of this product. After the strips failed, I went with a more permanent and damaging method of using Wire Brad nails.Even with those two issues with the product, I am still happy overall, which is why I gave 4 out of 5 stars. If I could give half a star, I would because the 2nd issue isn't really in the hands of this product. I am purchasing a 2nd set to further reduce the sound in my office.

It eventually inflates, so be patient!
A lot of people complain in the reviews that not all panels inflate properly, so I bought with a somewhat low expectation. However, you can get them to inflate with some perseverance. I won't say they'll easily inflate. Let me describe what I did and how I managed to get all panels inflated!I filled up my washing machine with warm water and paused the cycle. Then I put all flattened panels in it for about 10-15 minutes. After soaking all of them, only 4 out of 12 got fully inflated. Some were partially inflated and some did not inflate at all. I gently squeezed most of the water from all the panels and let the fully expanded ones to dry on the floor. I put the other stubborn panels for another bath, again about 15 minutes. Now a couple inflated completely, which I moved to the drying group. I repeated this cycle about 5 times. There were a couple of panels that still hadn't fully expanded, so I left them in water and left to work (about 6-7 hours). When I was back they also were fully expanded!!I noticed the black ones seemed to have more trouble expanding than the red ones. I was able to get all reds by the second cycle. Perhaps the pigment closes the pores? In any case, I'm happy I got all the 12 panels to expand. They don't look crooked, bent or defective in any manner. So if I have any advice to the buyer is: Prepare for a couple days of hand squeezing panels, and don't give up!!

Dry them thoroughly
Dry them in a dryer.Dry them in a dryer.Dry them in a dryer. After soaking them in water.Or wait a few days. I guess, if you are not in a rush.Any tiny bit of water, if your hand can feel it after squeezing it, doesn't work with command strips. After spending an hour trying and failing to make only three of them stick on the ceiling, I think the most important thing to note is to dry them very thoroughly after soaking in water, using a dryer or something, not even hair dryer. You have to make them super dry to stick.I haven't tried out their sound proof qualities, but with my very tired and dry hands after squeezing them too hard and using the hair dryer for too long, I have to type this message now. I feel miserable but you don't have to be.

Great for noise bounce back, not cancellation
This won’t stop external noises but it is great for echo. It definitely makes your voice sound better by eliminating the bounce back.

Exactly what was advertised.
I found all the squares to be uniform and in good condition. I used the excellent advice of smart Amazon reviewers - soak the pieces in water, then gently dry.I have a few more tips:Carefully squeeze out the water in a sink or tub by pushing down on them gently. Please do NOT twist them to wring out the moisture - these are delicate when wet. Then, put the squares in your washing machine and put it into the spin-only cycle. This will push out most of the water. After removing moisture through gravity and gentle compression, put them into the dryer on AIR DRY ONLY - no heat.A further step to help them get back into fully expanded shape is to add little drier balls into the load to "fluff" the squares (there are balls in the grocery store that are specifically dedicated to this function - they are not "tennis balls" - but look like them.) Please DO NOT use a tennis SHOE like we did in the old days to fluff larger loads...

You get what you pay for
These are quite compacted. Instructions say to soak them in water for 3 minutes, wring them out, and let them let them dry. Even after leaving them submerged for 10 minutes, when they dry they are of inconsistent size and thickness, making if difficult to do a perfect job, but the price was good.

Getting them to expand
We ran 2 different tests ..1. Bathtub soak-- Soaked them for 5 min in the tub .. wringed them out and waited 2 days. Came out perfect , but you have to make sure they are dry.2. Washer/Dryer-- Ran the other half in the washer under Rinse and spin on cold for 10 min and then set them in the dryer on the lowest setting.. not Air dry. They were dry in 2 hours. Some were a little damp , but can sit for a while.Don't be worried if you open the box and see how flat they are. They really do expand to the correct size.DO NOT set your dryer on high. I Didn't try it but they might burn

Great Product!... after hard work
So these come flat and vacuum sealed and like instructions explain you must submerge them in water and wring out after. However, in the middle of winter stacking them won't get them dry. Took me 3 days of drying and resting. Being cautious not to over heat, shrink or melt the foam. Put a space heater in the room to dry the air, used a hair dryer a few times on the bottoms. Product does not work with heavy duty frog tape, had to back out and get the spray adhesive. The end product was fantastic, but don't expect to hang these same day. Be patient.

Some are still distorted but overall these are great - Little-Lucky Acoustic Foam Panels
Got these as my son does online gaming and wanted them for two reasons; they reduce echo around his desk thus improve the audio quality at the mic, but they also look cool! What we did was leave them out for a few days to puff up, but some were still squished. Those ones we squashed in water, wrung out and left to dry... hey presto it worked. They all puffed up well and look pretty even and clean looking. There are a couple that still have some distortion on them, but to be honest we're not using all of them yet anyway, but again I reckon with another soaking and a wringing out, perhaps a tumble drying, and they'll soon straighten themselves out too.Applying them was interesting... we tried the double sided tape method first and they all peeled off within an hour so that doesn't work. The foam just won't stick to it... so we created a new way; We laid them on the floor and used a well sticky 'tape' (it's like carpet tape) to create a 3x3 grid of these with the tape sticking to the rear of these panels, then we applied the double sided tape to the back of that tape stuff, then applied the whole 3x3 panel to the wall... worked a treat! It's still there now after a couple of weeks.Looks awesome

Good sound
The sound conditioning is good. I narrate audio books and Audible, plus other platforms accept narrationd using these tiles. The only slight downside is that they are compressed in the packaging and have to be soaked for an hour or so to "de-compress" them. Not all tiles de-compressed fully.
