The original progressive rate fork springs soak up the small road bumps, yet are firm enough to absorb the molar-rattling ones. Spring rates have been chosen to reduce front end dive during braking, yet still provide excellent ride comfort. They warranty the fork springs for life. Progressive rate fork springs have several advantages over straight rate springs. A progressive rate spring has the advantage of a rising rate resistance to compression. The benefit of this is that the spring can be soft enough at the start of the travel to offer a plush ride, yet be firm enough at the end of the travel to soak up the big bumps.

Closer coils on top if measuring fork oil.
I recommend installing with the closer wound coils at the top. With them at the bottom their being closer together displaces more oil and raises up the volume of the oil and affect dampening, reason why they have you measure the oil distance instead of volume like you manual may state. If installed the way I mentioned then you can fill per volume and not have to measure any distances. Make sure you choose the proper fork oil as well, viscosity plays a huge factor in your ride.Ride is firmer than stock, I added a tad more oil, 12cc over stock to increase dampening effect due to my bike having a full touring package and a stocky rider...

They installed easy for my 1984 Honda VF700S
These springs I think were worth the upgrade. I can't tell too much of a difference but my front end does feel a little bit stiffer. My forks don't hold air for too long so that's why I opted to try these before doing a complete rebuild. Install was easy and quick. 1984 Honda VF700S Sabre.

V45 magna
I'm 255lbs and these made a huge difference. Granted the old springs were probably weak but still the bike handles and rides much better with these and 15 weight oil.

Replace those ancient springs!
Springs get soft with age. It's great to be able to get replacement springs for a bike more than 30 years old. The included washers and plastic pipe to adjust pre-load is a nice touch as well.

Five Stars
Big difference from stock (1982 Honda Magna), braking, cornering, and when encountering all forms of irregular terrain.

Get you some
These springs and some heavier oil make my old magna handle like a modern bike

This replacement fork spring set is great!!!
I recommend this upgrade over original equipment fork springs to anyone riding on a thirty year old set. The ride is great, and I have less fear of encountering Michigan pot-holes now, especially with new Progressive shocks on the back too.
