Fit my 2004 C230 Kompressor. Fixed my CEL.

After several tries this gas cap kept making my check engine light come on showing "gas cap is off." I had to go back to using my original gas cap. This new cap only has 1 spring inside instead of 2 springs. The second spring is supposed to press on a membrane. The OEM Mercedes Benz cap has two springs inside and the second spring sits on the membrane of a one way vent valve. That make the gas cap a truly vented cap. The car's computer can tell the difference. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT HERE!

Like the title says, the cap itself fits like factory OEM. But the tether plastic cord needs to be adjusted and adapted. Yo remove the old tether from the gas tank door, I had to pry it off, gently unsnap the housing...and then destroy the existing fastener that would normally be used. I chose to do this because th the new one was not going to work anyway. Luckily, I had a locking nut and swivel bolt that just happened to fit when i installed it upside down. Again, the CAP fits fine... but the securing the tether to the door, and to the fastening mechanism takes some engineering.
