Excellent Resource for Someone New to the Business World - AWFUL Color Choices for Layout
When I read the other reviews I thought, "Geesh, how back could the colors used really BE? Surely they are over-reacting." Guess what, they were NOT.I am loathe to whine more about the fonts and colors used, but it was a BIG turn off for me and REALLY lessened my enjoyment of this book. The font was an odd choice - too round and hard to read for the body of a book. Also, the colors choices did not have enough contrast - teal and olive is cool looking, but made it awkward and straining to read. This is a big deal, more so than the designer may have thought.Bit of advice, have people of all ages look at a book if you are designing it with anything besides one of the dozen or so standard copy fonts or a color of text besides black. I am middle-aged with trifocals (sigh-I outed myself as old) and got a headache from eye strain.Font rant over - the info within the pages is great. Nicely laid out, great info for those starting a business or double checking that what they are currently doing is on track. If they ever reprint this in normal readable colors, I would highly recommend it. As it is, I would try and find her info online.

Comprehensive Overview of Starting Your Craft Business
I enjoyed the set up of this book and found it easy to read. The interviews with people who have their own successful craft businesses were interesting. I have to be honest, they were a little depressing too. Most of them seemed to just become successful by chance which isn't the case for most of us.I purchased this and Creative, Inc (which I haven't finished yet) to see if I would like to do crafty things or pursue graphic design. This book discouraged me from doing the crafty side of things. It isn't at all a downer but when it was talking about trade shows and making the same thing over and over and over, it made me realize I would prefer something with more variety.Overall, it was a good read and it helped me decide which way to head. If you are serious about starting your craft business, I say give it a read. It will help you on your path or give you a reality check before you invest cash in your dream.

and I especially like the checklist page for all the things you need ...
This is an inspiring and informative book about starting your own craft business. It's down-to-earth advice, and I especially like the checklist page for all the things you need to do to properly register your own craft business. Sometimes I found the writing to be a admonishing, like she's saying "careful what you're getting yourself into", which stands to reason. But then you'd turn the page and read a wild success story about some crafter, so at the same time you're getting proof that it can be done. Overall I couldn't put it down, I found the creative and colorful layout to be engaging and the advice to be priceless. It's a fun book you'll enjoy referencing.

Useful and inspiring
The author walks the reader through many of the nuts and bolts steps of starting and maintaining a craft business. Use this book as a primer, realizing that you will no doubt need to research many areas further. My only regret is buying the Kindle version--it would be better to have a hard copy to be able to flip back and forth more easily.

Good for creatives
Good for first time business people. Folks who know nothing about how to business. It's catered for them. Good resources and information, as a business savvy person it was a really nice refresher on what works and what doesn't in the creative field.
