6W Portable USB Soldering Iron This incredible USB portable soldering iron is the first of its kind. It is unique, portable, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly. It can achieve up to 896°F (480°C) in 20 seconds by using only a 9V alkaline battery or by connecting to your computer via the included USB cable! Great for the field, home, or at work! Features: Professional grade soldering tip Achieves max. temperature of 896°F/480°C via 9V battery or USB connection Built-in ultra-bright LED light that illuminates your work area Energy-efficient, only consumes approximately 5W Voltage: 5V Current: 800mA Power input: 4-6W Fast heat-up time of 15~20 seconds Protective safety cap Safety on/off switch Perfect for soldering SMD components Size: 5.8"L x 0.6"W Includes: 9V battery adapter, USB cable Y-adapter and sponge Review: Works but not well, tip plating is very poor quality. Still my go-to iron for field use, though. - It actually works pretty well for a little while, but the cheap tip won't hold a tin (even after retinning with salts), and replacement tips aren't available. That being said, I still carry it in my portable kit, because it's way more convenient than the butane iron it replaced. (Which always seemed to have leaked itself empty of butane when I needed it.) It's not as powerful as the butane iron -- it'll join a pair of 20AWG wires, but 18AWG might be a bit heavy for it to heat up. But it's easy to control, and the LED at the tip is nice a touch. It heats up surprisingly fast, maybe 20-30 seconds. I've never used the 9V adapter and it sort of scares me, frankly. Review: GREAT little portable Soldering iron - Works great for small to medium jobs. Used this for years now, when i need to be portable, I just take my laptop with me for EXTRA POWER or 9v battery adapter last longer than expected. I have been very handing in my tech bag.
