Vanika Stainless Steel Can Opener with Carbon...
Works well. The cutting wheel is not the easiest to clean. If there is some model that has easier access to wash cutting wheel, get that one. But all else equal, this one works as promised. I do have Hamilton Beach 76606Z Smooth Touch Can Opener, but that one does not always open right, so I just use this one, all day long, no fail. And washing is made easier because it is light, can place it under stream of water easily.

Finally Gave Up and Tossed This in the Trash Where it Belongs
I read all the reviews and had high hopes. When you get this can opener, it looks and feels nice but it's actually not sturdy at all. The handles are hollow. The handle on the left side totally bent under normal pressure opening a can of beans. I struggled with this thing with a kink in the handle for over two years. The mechanism is NOT smooth at all - certainly not for the long run. This product 100% totally rusts! I actually have no clue how the manufacturer can say that it's rust proof. Not dishwasher safe and you best dry off all the water even after a hand-washing because if not, it will rust. ZERO stars for this total P.O.S. How hard is it to make a good can opener?

Works great...until
I'm happy to report that this Vanika can opener works wonderfully. it glides over the can with not much (some, but not much) effort, cutting it open perfectly. And the strainer is a nice added bonus.Update: I used it for a few months without fail, but then all of a sudden it was done for. I was opening a can when all of a sudden it became very hard to turn the handle, but it finished the job. But when I moved on to the next can it was not moving, the gears would just spin in place. This forced me to open the can by repeatedly opening and closing the can opener to pierce it enough times around the edge to open it. Such a disappointment.

I don't know if my family is just hard on ...
I don't know if my family is just hard on can openers, this one only lasted about a short time in our house. But I still use the strainer. :)

... haven't used it yet but it seems to be good enough to do the job
I haven't used it yet but it seems to be good enough to do the job. It's a solid construction but doesn't seem as solid as others I've used. For the price, I really can't complain though.

Easy to use
Just tried this can opener. It is easy to use. It works just like most other can openers. I don't need the can strainer at all. That seems to me to be another kitchen gadget to clutter the drawer. However, I believe I will really like the can opener. I'm hoping the blade will stay sharp for a long time since it is made of carbon steel.

Turns In On Itself
I don't understand these glowing reviews. This can opener constantly turns inward and loses its cut on the lid, causing you to have to reattach it and start over. It's quite possibly the worst can opener I've ever purchased. The strainer is nice though.

Really impressed with the build and quality
I wanted a can opener that grips as it goes around the can and doesn't slip--staying in one place while you crank away. This one grips and doesn't slip. The carbon steel blade cuts well and even has a screw to remove and replace the blade which was a surprising design touch in this disposable world. Sad to see they're out of stock right now. I wanted to purchase another for my mom.
