Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Marianne North 100 Postcards

I am so glad I got these. I almost did not order, but I am go glad I did. They are great. There are a few that I am not to crazy about, but that is my taste. I really don't think I will be mailing these out but keeping them for myself.

I send a lot of postcards - to family members, friends, employees. It is a pleasure to get something tangible in the mail. The Marianne North assortment is excellent, beautiful images, bright colors, and there are no duplicates in the box of 100. Extra details - high quality paper, and lines on the right side for writing the address.

These are really beautiful and such a good deal. Great to send out to customers or just personal use.

What a spectacular, eye-popping introduction to Marianne North's paintings is this collection of 100 postcards. In contrast to the similarly priced and sized collections of plant drawings offered by several botanical gardens in the United States and Britain, North's paintings fill the entire card frame with botanical specimens, some animals, and a good sense of entire locations. North, a British gentlewoman from a prominent family that financed her worldwide travels, faithfully recorded diverse environments, and the beauty of her work will leave you wishing you could hurry off to London's Kew Gardens where a special building houses her work.

The pack of postcards (all of 100 are different) is great. The art and the style of Marianne North is so authentic!Plants are exotic, from cacti to orchids. Plus variety of landscapes.Quality of print is excellent, deep colors, good detailed, printed on glossy (not matt) paper. Highly recommend.

These postcards are sturdy, attractively printed, and take normal postcard postage. It's also great to see the amazing Marianne North get a postcard set. But having seen only a few North paintings, I was disappointed by what I discovered. The flower close-ups are wonderfully appealing. The wider framings and especially the landscapes look a lot like second-rate nineteenth-century colonialist kitsch. I am saving a few dozen of the best and giving the rest to a charity shop where someone who likes more drama in their art can find and enjoy them. (Perhaps it would help if the cards were matte rather than highly glossy?) Seriously, you might love them, but do look at a range of North's paintings before you buy.

Everyone loved the paintings

I didn’t read the description fully so I expected a pack of maybe 10-20 prints with some duplicates. NO. Every single one was a different print! I love these.

Saw this elsewhere but got it a bit cheaper here. Printed at back of box " This box contains 100 postcards, each measuring 160 x 112 mm (6 1/2 x 4 1/2 in.) " It is actually about 148 mm x 105 mm or 5 7/8 x 4 1/8 inches. So beware if you already have frames that you think fit this size because these won't match and can be frustrating, so it has been a disappointing purchase. If you don't already have frames then it shouldn't be an issue.

Great value for money - 100 pieces of beautiful art! Obviously not as superb as the real collection at Kew, but the next best thing :) I like displaying them and giving them away.

Retro floral designed postcards, no duplicates and In good condition

Slightly disappointed. Paper quality is OK, but image selection is quite random and better selections could have been made, e.g. there's almost nothing from India and Sri Lanka, and Pride of Burma (Amherstia nobilis), which inspired Marianne North to travel is not included. Images are weirdly cropped too, often with half of a flower or bird missing.

I ordered Marianne North's book for a friend, as I love my own copy. The artwork is wonderful and the biography of this amazing painter makes for an inspiring read. As there wasn't a new copy available I ordered what is described as "very good" second hand copy, which arrived within a day and is in excellent condition! I am so pleased to be able to share this wonderful inspirational book filled with amazing prints of paintings with my friend who is in hospital. I am sure she will be uplifted and delighted with it!
