Great collection of episodes, except . . .
. . . one episode had "The Supremes" as the musical guest-act.Ever seen a Diana Ross-less version of the OTHER Supremes?Sorta like a version of The Doors [without Jim Morrison]; or,Jimi Hendrix's EXPERIENCE [without James Marshall Hendrix].That said, these [fifty-year-old] episodes will make those of usthat wee still in Vietnam in 1972 feel grateful we made it backto see Sonny and Cher making fun of President Nixon. . .Lots of political satire of that time-period their child Chastity, when HE was still a child, and NOT fifty-four years old.Lotsa, dead, entertainers in THESE episodes! World a look. . . back!

Nostalgic fun - but where's the music?!?!?
These ten Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour shows are fun to watch, but beware - most of the music has been excised. While all opening duets (with comic interludes) are here, there's very little in the way of music here (with the exception of several comic operas - one of which is actually shown TWICE, on two different shows!). Most of Cher's solos have been excised, as have those of guest stars. The worst is the fifth disc, which consists of The Sonny and Cher Years Special, Parts 1 & 2. These two specials feature musical legends Chuck Berry, Bobby Vinton, Jerry Lee Lewis, Frankie Valli, Paul Anka, The Coasters, Peter Noone, and Neil Sedaka - but the only time these guests sing is in the opening numbers (and only a few seconds each at that) - in the finales, where they all clearly had a number to sing, horribly obvious cuts have been made and all that is shown is them taking bows alongside their hosts. To add insult to injury, several of the Vamp skits are truncated (a fact made obvious when the "casts" come out to take their bows and some of characters are from skits not shown). Further, the Cher "interview" is just a bunch of short clips of her speaking on a few different S&C show-related topics. All I can say is that I'm glad I bought this 5-disc set instead of wasting my money on the 10-disc, $100+ set! The cuts are obvious, sloppy, and unforgivable.IMHO, The Sonny and Cher Ultimate Collection 3-disc set (released back in 2004) is far superior. It includes a nice selection of complete shows - music and all - from both The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour AND the post-divorce reboot, The Sonny & Cher Show. It's currently out-of-print, but if you can snag a copy at a decent price, I recommend it over this new Time-Life set.

Not the best selection of show material.
Vendor was fine. Material arrived on time. It’s just the content that wasn’t that great. The clips used for this set are not the best for Sonny and Cher.

Andy Williams Show, Bobby Vinton Showなどもてがけているがやはりコメディーはどたばたものが多く、もう少し歌の場面を増やしてほしいというのが印象だが、アメリカ人と日本人との好みの違いかもしれない。
