I've gone on and off ORGANIX, in the hopes to find something more affordable...
I have 4 dogs ( (2)- 120 pound German Shepherds, (1)- 150 pound Rottweiler, (1)- 12 pound dachshund) I've been through every high quality food on the market. Eukanuba dog food, Nutro Ultra dog food, Blue Buffalo dog food, Canidae dog food you name it. One of my Shepherds suffers from very bad food allergies, yeast infections in her ears, itchy skin, dry skin. Its been a complete and exhausting nightmare. I've gone on and off ORGANIX, in the hopes to find something more affordable but still get them the quality they need, but every time we have a terrible outbreak (it can take months to rid an allergic outbreak on a dog, and just one meal, to send it all down hill) I'd switch back. After our last meltdown with Blue Buffalo, I vowed to never leave Organix again. I do wish they made the food available in a 40 pound bad, or anything bigger then the itsy bits 25 pound, since I go through about 25 pounds of dog food in about 5 days with my pack. Its great food, perfect from puppy all the way to senior, all breeds. Its very true what they say, the more money you spend on your dog food, the less in vet bills you will have. My dogs all have great focus, believe me, if you feed a cheap food, your dogs will be bouncing off the walls, eating 3x the amount they should, because the quality of food is a joke. Taste is great, even for the picky stubborn doxie. If you walk into a Petsmart or Pectco you can expect to pay $65.00 for a 25 pound bag. I order from Amazon, on a subscription (5 items) and get each back for $40.00, along with free shipping. The company is certified organic by the Oregon Tilth. If you know anything about that process, know it is not very easy to be "certified" organic (the formula contains at least 70% organic ingredients) I've worked in the health food industry for years with similar certifiers, (ccof, and QAI) every single ingredient from seed & soil, all the way to co packing is traced, and evaluated. Any discrepancies, and they could lose their certification. They Oregon Tilth logo, is a sign of commitment. They are also carried in Whole Foods Markets, which goes through its own vigorous inspection, in order to be carried, by that retailer. I highly recommend brand for any dog, if you want a high quality food, that will support the health and well being of your pup. They are what you feed them.

Healthy dogs since I switched...see new update!
I have been fedding my dogs this for about a year now and I am so impressed with how they have improved. Solid consistant stools with almost no odor. The dogs all have beautiful shiny coats even when they're filthy from playing in the yard! Their eyes are bright and shiny and they all have great energy. I feed them less and they stay satisfied too!I like the fact that this particular formula does not have potato. Why I have not seen any issues with feeding the dogs potato I take a cue from what dogs will naturally eat and what they won't and I have never ever had a dog that would eat potatos. Not one, and I have had dogs all my life. They won't touch a potato even if it has butter on it. They lick the butter off and leave the potato. I like that this formula uses peas instead and the first ingredients is real meat.I boarded my daughters weimerainer (sp?) for 6 months and switched him to this food. When he arrived he would constantly scratch all over and chew his feet. After switching to this food, the scratching and chewing stopped. His coat went from dull to super shiny and he loved the food and still does :)Update: apparently this company has merged with Purina and without notice changed the formula. As you see in my original review this did not contain potato. Another ingredient was added as well... barley. My dogs can and eat barley. Thankfully when the bag changed I immediately checked the ingredients and sure enough they has changed too. This is unfortunate, I really liked this brand but I will not be buying it anymore.I cancelled my subscription and am now searching for a new brand.

BUYER BEWARE!
I want to relate my recent experience with Organix Grain Free Lamb and Peas recipe dog food for the safety of all dogs that have been eating this company's dog food. I had been purchasing this brand for some time for my dog. Recently, I opened a new bag,(not expired), put a cup in, and scooped some up, and gave it to my dog. She started eating it. I went back to get more, and when I looked inside what I saw disgusted me. I saw a clump of dog food that was white, attached to a brown sticky substance which looked and smelled like dried dog poop. By the time I went back to my dog’s bowl, she had already eaten the food that I had put in there. This food had visually appeared normal. That evening, my dog had diarrhea all over the house. She has never had diarrhea before, and I always felt that she had a “cast iron stomach”.Of course, I contacted the company, Castor Pollux to relay my experience. The woman took down some initial information, and asked me to send the bag back to her. However, she would not even agree to reimburse me fully for my expenses associated with returning the dog food until she checked with “her supervisor”. She stated that it was “above her pay grade”. She told me that she would call me back, and also send me a shipping label. I insisted that I receive a return call from a supervisor, as I felt this was an important matter, and it should receive proper attention.Well, long story short, I never received a call back from anyone at the company. I never received a shipping label. I am appalled at this woman’s attitude on the phone, and the company’s lack of response, which demonstrates a total lack of concern to me. It then struck me to do what I should’ve done in the first place, file a report on the FDA Safety Reporting Website. I have now done this, and I’m waiting to hear back from them.My feeling is that this company lacks adequate quality control measures, and I will not buy their food again. I love my dog too much.
