That Can Be Arranged: A Muslim Love Story

so cute and informative too
This is a tale of a Muslim girl who doesn't has mixed feelings about her community's marriage traditions. She defys them, then feels left out, worries that she will end up an old-maid, longs to be in a Jane Austen novel, accepts being single, falls in love (at first sight), and finds a way to get a traditional (sort of) arranged marriage to Mr. Right. It's actually pretty fantastic. I learned a lot about a culture I have had almost no access to and laughed along with Huda at her cute drawings and complicated feelings.I think I will be reading more of this author! And, Ms. Fahmy, if you read this, I totally get that whole love at first sight across the room thing. It's real.

halal romance at its best
This story is halal romance at its best and funniest. The number of times I flat out guffawed. I sent a copy to my friend whose child basically considers Huda her bestie now. Cannot wait for more!

Treat yourself to a grin on the face when you close the covers!
I finished it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down! The book is nearly organized into sections that flow well as Huda takes you through her experiences -- or lack thereof -- with love and relationships. I recommend reading the preface, haha (read it to see why I'm laughing about it), because it is helpful if you're not as familiar with Islamic faith and tradition. If you're an avid reader of Huda's comics online (yesimhotinthis), you'll love this book. Small bits of it will seem familiar if you've read her comics about how she met her husband, but the vast majority of the book is all new and only in the book. It's funny and honest, just as we all have come to expect and enjoy! Get it and relax as you read this heartwarming tale. Treat yourself to a grin on the face when you close the covers!

An American Love Story
TL;DR: this book moved me a lot. It was funny, and sweet, and I read it all in one sitting. It’s a book I would have wanted as a teenager.I’ve spent a month telling people how excited I am about this book‘s release, and through that month I’ve been met with confused faces. I come from an evangelical Christian background, which shouldn’t mean much, but for some reason it does. When explaining that Huda’s marriage started with a courtship (like mine!) and laying down the rules, people started understanding that there isn’t much difference at all. That’s when I started pointing them toward Huda’s Instagram and now we talk about her comics all the time! This book beautifully shows the journey of love in such a sweet and funny way. I love the art, and the message, including the idea that both parties are worth waiting for!

A sweet, all-American, Muslim love story
I loved reading this book! the story is funny, sweet and authentic while surfacing "normal" teenage angst and dreams. In this sense, Huda's story is highly relatable for non-Muslims as well as Muslims. My favorite aspect of the book is this idea of connectedness and shared emotions we experience as humans in pursuit of life partners. It may be surprising for non-Muslims to realize that young, modern, American Muslims follow these courting and marriage traditions quite happily and by choice -- (after a fairly typical early teenage kick-back and questioning :)). It's not easy to be vulnerable and open and funny at the same time. Huda does an amazing job of skillfully sharing treasured traditions. A work to be proud of! Waiting for the next book.....

A Hilarious Authentic Insight into the Life of a Muslim woman
Fahmy is a treasure, and this book is the gold she's offering to share with the world. Huda is SUCH a hilarious and crazy relatable character throughout all of her experiences! As a Muslim woman, I find it EXTREMELY hard to find authentic representation of Muslim women in any medium within American culture, so this was such a new and lovely experience for me! I love the feeling of being seen, I love the instant connection I have with the character, and the drawings, situations, and delivery are just beautifully done. PLEASE support this author and buy this book ALONG with her first masterpiece 'Yes, I'm Hot in This'.

Endearingly charming and cheeky
Just finished reading this book and I’m having an emotional moment. This book brought up a lot of feelings about my own relationship journey. It’s refreshing to see my experience so well represented in a graphic novel. Fahmy’s book is sweet and informative peppered with her wit and humor. It reads as an illustrated story instead of a paneled comic book as was the previous book. Im a huge fan of her art style which has me especially chuckling at Immi’s expressions. This is a great read and also makes a great engagement gift. Can’t wait to see more of what this comic/author/artist brings next.

Hilarious and hopelessly romantic book made me cry!
POV of a female, hopeless romantic, non-practicing Muslim:Oh my goodness! Huda Fahmy has written a book I didn’t know was missing in my life. If you follow her Instagram, you are familiar with the range of wonderful characters. My favourite being her mom, of course.Huda’s vulnerability in this book, hand in hand with the hilarity, really hits you. She opens up about when she felt fantastic and when she felt down. You get this little cartoon character. You care for her. You go through the motions with her. You care about her family and her friends. By the time she meets her husband, she’s a fully formed woman who we’re rooting for.Jane Austen would have been proud of the love story of these two love birds who found each other and became one.Buying more to gift to friends. Marry or not?
Huda Fahmy’s illustrated book is a humourful but also insightful story how she met her husband. In her always witty style she created a perfect story where you will laugh aloud but at the same time a lot of points will make you think about the pressure we are feeling in our society about finding “the one” for us to marry. I found many similiarities and also some things how it differs from my cultural ubringing which I found very interesting to read about.Fahmy captured first my interest with her feed where she writes/draws in her four panel stories about racism and discrimination a muslim women is confronted daily and her personel experiences with it. She let me feel seen when I read some of her panels and tought exactely I experience that or experienced that too. This book was on my list before it was even published and I’m happy to have it on my own little library now.

Funny With A Side Order Of Reality
In the last couple of years, Islamophobia has grown exponentially. What we don't know we tend to not only fear but vilify. Hufa Fahmy's comic strip not only delivers dollops of laughter but seeks to clear up a lot of misconceptions about one of the world's oldest religions. How successful she is depends on the readers but it's not hard to see that's she's succeeding...one redneck at a time!
