MiditechMIT-00151 Midiface 4x4 Midi Interface

Nothing to complain about. Plug and play.
I like it so much because it just works. Was previously using two m-audio midisport 2x2s that had driver issues. This doesn't appear to have any issues at all. I will update this if it has any glitches. I plug in 4 rack mount synths all controlled by 2 midi keyboard controllers through USB.

MIDI 4x4 Works great with Ableton on Windows 10
I bought this to connect my MicroKorg synthesizer that didn't have a modern USB type midi interface. I also use it for my Volca Sample. Have used it with Ableton 10 suite and so far it's been working perfectly, no issues with driver or compatibility issues. Was looking to buy the more expensive brand name but this little thing does the job just right for my needs. Recommended for those who need MiDi ins/outs but don't want to spend a fortune.

This works for NEWER synths!
I've got a couple of synths, but this thing doesn't know how to speak to my Casio CT-640 or my Casio VZ-1. Even with an editor/librarian like MIDI Quest (paid software), I was unable to get my VZ-1 or CT-640 to read the out put from this interface. After a day lost troubleshooting in the studio with MIDI Quest's support team, we found that this interface was the issue. There is 4 inputs and 4 outputs for MIDI, and there is also the USB connection which allows you to use any other USB plugged in keyboard as your controller. This is where I believe things get tricky in the type of transmission that gets sent. The purpose of MIDI Quest is to be able to output a specific format of data that the dated machines (be it a Casio or another vintage synth) and once that signal gets sent out, it goes through the MIDI interface and plays whatever you play on your USB connected keyboard to all four outputs of the MIDI ports. Somewhere in the chain, the MIDIFACE 4x4 seems to convert the intended original signal from your computer to some other format, which isn't going to be helpful if you have older synths.ok that was a wall of text! anyways TL;DR this is a good MIDI interface if and only if you don't have older synths, specifically Casio, Hohner, Kawai, Esoniq, etc.

Not recognized in Reaper DAW
I've been using an old, out-of-production Midisport 2x2 to control my synths and wanted to expand to control more devices, so I bought this supposedly "plug and play" 4x4. Took it out of the box and spent 2 hours trying to get Reaper to recognize it, but no dice. 2 hours of troubleshooting, editing registry, and scanning the internet for support has KILLED any desire to play music or be creative, so thanks for that, Miditech. Sending it back for a refund. If you use Reaper I suggest you do NOT buy this.

Works.
Works. Some people may think that the word, "Works," is not a worthy review, but after fiddling around with a motu fastlane for a few years, it is PURE JOY to plug in this MidiTech interface and KNOW it is going to work regardless of my cable connection sequence, if my laptop sleeps and I wake it up, or I dont update a driver. I perform live using MainStage and this little box is perfect for my rig. 1 USB cable to my laptop and up to 4 keyboards. It is housed in a very sturdy box. So far it has been 100% perfect with zero midi hangs. I couldn't be happier with this device.

Nice 4x4 interface - USB to boot
I picked this up for a raspberry Pi + MIDI project - wanting something heavier than an "in-line pigtail" adapter but not wanting to pay more for an interface that than the Pi itself. It has an old school metal case, bright indicator LEDs and is USB powered. Nothing to dislike at all. Will update if issues as the project progresses, but this looks like a win all around.

Cannot get it to work on Windows 10
I believe it might be that it is not compatible with USB 3.0. I don't have any USB 2.0 ports on my music laptop with Windows 10 to confirm. But it works on a Windows 8 laptop when plugged into a USB 2.0 port. Support was not helpful and assumed that because it worked on the other laptop that there is no problem with the product. I'll be returning it.

It simply works
This device is the only thing that worked for me after trying a ton a different MIDI adapters on our 30 year old Clavinova.

Works flawlessly with my iPad Mini 4
I got this 4x4 USB midi adapter to see whether I could control my 3 Korg Volcas with my iPad Mini 4 using the the Genome Midi Sequencer app. Everything worked flawlessly straight out of the box. Once I had adjusted the midi channels on my Volcas, setting it up as just a matter of plugging things it and it was ready to go.This adapter is really compact, it does not take much space on your desk. The case is all metal, ad very sturdy.I can highly recommend this product.

Solid, and works with hardware and software alike.
Out of the box, this feels reassuringly weighty. And if you are using it JUST for hardware then you will probably be good to go right away. And it shows up in both Reason and Ableton just fine. Probably most other DAWs as well, i haven't checked on others yet though..Sticking with the MIDI out device in Reason (DAW), this is pretty simple to set up and use. I've had this a while now and, after a little initial confusion (my bad), i now count this as one of my studio essentials..There might be some better equipment out there, but not at this price i bet.

Not bought for looks*
But looks great. Super simple plug and play. Got three external synths set up with Ableton Live, with External Instrument devices for each one saved, in about 15 minutes. Make sure to go into Preferences>MIDI first and set up each interface for sync and track. Absolutely delighted, cut down on my USB connections and loose cables a fekkin treat.

I had been looking for a midi sport for sometime and this product popped up on amazon. Ive had the 2x2 midi sport in the past but it died on me... this i think is better as it is much smaller than other 4x4 and you have 2 in and out on both sides. Ive not noticed any midi lag so far... Very pleased with this purchase!
