I bought these sterile plastic shaft 6" cotton tipped applicators to use on a wound with a deep tunnel. The applicator is used to push rolled gauze into the tunnel so it can wick drainage away. The wood shaft applicators can catch on the gauze pulling it back out of the wound. The plastic shaft is smooth so it doesn't catch on the gauze pulling it out. They are also flexible allowing it to bend around curves to reach deeper into the tunnels.Here is the caution:. The cotton tip can slide off the shaft leaving it in the wound. This can cause a serious infection if any of it is missed or left behind.Some brands like Medline are less likely to have this issue.

Works perfectly for my needs. I used them to clean a wound and also to but bacitracin on in a hard for me to reach area. Worked great!

Length was perfect. Plastic is flimsy.

These are flexible enough to bend a bit and don't break like wooden stick ones. Two are in each sealed pack.
