Country Weekend Knits
Wonderful book. The directions are clear and seem to be followable (is that even a word?). Pattern types range from the intricate Fair Isle to Gansey knits with their simple to accomplish, but oh so intricate looking patterns. These are some of the best Aran patterns that I have seen in quite some time. Beautiful cable combinations. Nice mixing of lace techniques and traditional cables. I have 4 of the 6 Aran patterns marked for making. Last, but certainly not least is the section on Shetland Lace. Once again, no cables, but oh so beautiful. I would be happy to make any of the 5 Lace projects in this book.Plenty of photos to help inspire you and to give a true idea of what the finished project will look like.I have yet to start a project from this book (I purchased 3 books at the same time), but I am impressed with what I have read, and I do have several projects earmarked to do. Directions are written out in clear English, no pesky, strangely coded chart to follow.

Lovely Book
I have just received this book, and have only looked through it at this point. I preordered this, and had no idea what patterns it may contain.I am happily anxious to start some of the items I see here. There are many patterns, 25 in all, consisting of ganseys, arans, fairisle and Shetland Lace, and includes men's and women's garments: pullovers, cardigans, vests, and many short sleeved summery items, which are particularly nice and wearable. The first item I will make is a beautiful gansey called Eriskay, just gorgeous. A large variety of yarns are used, and I think there is something special in here for anyone interested in hand knits.I classify most of the patterns as classic, functional, and as pretty/handsome garments. The book is a softcover with photography that shows each item well, and everything is modelled by people who look like real people.Very highly recommended. One note, though, most of the patterns, except for the Fairisles and a couple of rudimentary stitch charts, have written rather than graphed directions, which suits me well, but will not please some. There are also no illustrations of pattern pieces with dimensions given, so these look more like patterns of years ago. There are some basic techniques given in the back of the book, but these are minimal.

Great Book, can't wait to get started.
I received this book and looked through it for the first time. There were about 4 patterns that I'd like to make immediately.I never saw the previous version, but the patterns and colorways are beautiful. The photography is great and youcan make out the patterns easily. I can't wait to get started with a sweater or two or three from this wonderful book.

Lovely book with classic patterns
The book is beautifully styled, and the traditional British style knits follow a very "Rowan aesthetic" with outdoor photography, lovely clothes to match the woolens in a set color palette, and the natural look of the models and their surroundings. Lots of ganseys and fishermen motifs, Fair Isle, Arans, and some lace thrown in for good measure. The styles are pretty and classic, and several of them caught my eye.

Wonderful inspiration
As a self-taught knitter, I'm always looking to expand my knowledge and find new, small challenges to hone my knitting skills. When I mastered cables a few years ago (YouTube is your friend!), I started looking for sweater patterns that were challenging enough to be fun and would turn out being something I'd be proud to give and the recipient would be eager to receive. Some great patterns in here.

Country Weekend Knits 25 classic patterns for timeless knitwear
I like the selections of patterns. A very helpful book! Aran and gansey sweaters are my favorite designs to knit.Edited to add: I am a little over halfway through knitting the Eriskay Gansey sweater and have found three errors so far. It is a poorly laid out pattern. The only reason I'm continuing on with the sweater is because I really, really like the design and want that sweater. When I'm finished with the sweater and know what all is wrong with the pattern, I will post again with an errata.BTW, I couldn't find any errata online. Should anyone know of any, I sure would like to know where I can find them.

You will need to be an experienced knitter in order to produce these beautifully patterned classic sweaters
A book featuring traditional yesteryear knitwear patterns, some based on original designs from the 18th century hailing from various parts of the British Isles. Many are knitted on round needles, all in one piece, without seams. Traditionally they were knitted very tightly to make them weatherproof for fishermen and country dwellers. You will need to be an experienced knitter in order to produce these beautifully patterned classic sweaters.

Nice Selection
Book arrived on time and in great condition. I haven't made anything from it yet, but happy to see many of the patterns would be of use to me. There were a few I wouldn't bother with, but most are quite nice and the history of the knit pattern is included. Lovely book to read even if just for the history and photos.
