Pumping From Day 1
I purchased this for my wife after reading the many reviews here and here's her feedback:------------------------------------------I had the opportunity to use the Medela pump at the hospital and this pump at home. I personally prefer the Avent over the Medela. The nipple massager on the Avent is a big plus as the Medela does not come with one and the plastic sticks to your boob and it hurts...it hurts a lot! The Avent also let's you easily program the speed/rhythm that it pumps at and allows you to switch to manual in a pinch if necessary not to mention that you can use batteries as well. The bottles that attach to the pump are convenient and easy to use - they screw right on and they let you feed directly from the bottle. The "honey" colored plastic doesn't bother me as much as others have commented - I expected it going in.Overall, really well designed and a great value compared to the Medela models. Been using it for a week and it's been solid; we'll see how it lasts. For new mothers, note that your first few sessions may not yield much milk/colostrum - this isn't the fault of the pump, but just how the body works. Keep at it and as you pump more, your body will start to produce more within a few days. It's an excellent pump and I would definitely recommend to other mothers!

Not as great as I thought
Manual pump option worked better and had a better vacuum suction than the automatic option. However we bought this unit for the automatic function and we were pretty disappointing to find that it wasn't creating enough vacuum.

Great for portability but doesn't work as well as Medela Pump in Style
I received a hand-me down Medela pump in style from a relative and was very happy with it, but needed a more portable pump for "emergencies" and when I was out places where I couldn't find a discreet place with an electrical outlet (the manual pump that came with the pump in style I got was broken).I purchased this pump because I liked that it could work via an AC adapter, battery pack, or manually. The pump works well, but I don't get as much milk as with the pump in style, and it takes much longer (even longer than if I pump each side individually with my pump in style). It is quieter than the Medela pump and I like that there are no tubes, which makes it easier to clean.

Great pump!
I bought this for my wife. We initially used a Medula manual pump and machine. But the machine version was not that portable. Since we used Avent bottles, I wanted my wife to give this a try. She likes it. She likes that thing that presses on the breasts and that she can set the rythm of the pump. I also like it's portability with the battery pack.I would give a 5-star, but I am the one who has to disessemble the pump, clean it, and sterilize it.

Phillips Avent is the best system
This pump is so liberating for my wife. I found it online and bought it before vacation and it gave us so much more flexibility. My wife loves it because it is battery powered and yet it can be plugged when near AC power. Additionally it can be used manually if no electric source is available. Fits in a medium size hand bag. She takes it to work and can express anywhere she needs.Wife recommends having the Phillips Avent Twin Electronic Pump SCF304 Avent Bpa Free Isis Iq Duo Twin Electronic Breast Pump with Free Lighter Adapter for home use.The entire Philips Avent product line is the most well thought out, best engineered system I have seen from any product offering.Highlights:-Parts from all pumps are interchangeable-Milk storage containers are snugly stackable, have a press lock seal/twist off top-Nipple Cap fits bottle cap-Breast cup protecting disk serves as a bottle bottom stabilizer-According to my wife, it feels like the closest thing to a real baby; the massaging action that the cup liner stimulates is ideal over a standard cup with no liner. She has tried Medela pumps and strongly prefers Avent. My personal opinion is that these electronic Avent pumps are luxury items; but I can think of no better time to pamper your wife than when she is expressing milk for your baby.Enjoy!

Simply THE BEST
My Baby is now 8 months and I have used this pump since birth. In the hospital I used hospital grade medela a couple of times and it was painful to my breast, and the amount of expressed milk was so low. beside, I found that one of my breasts has less milk and requires longer expression time.Avent single is a life saver:it is very gentle to te breast (I never had a sore),it is very light (easily portable to work) andreally quiet (I can pump in the same room with my sleeping baby)I have fed my baby exclusively on breast milk, and therefore pumped 3 times/day when until he was 6 months and with this pump I was expressing generally 9-10 bottles of 4 ounce each day. at 8 months since my baby starting eating solids, I am pumping only 2 times a day (morning and afternoon) and expressing 8-9 bottles of 4 ounces a day. of course it requires a little more time than doubles (30-45 min) but expressing 3 times a day makes it up... I read some reviews stating that this pump is not for everyday use, and IT IS NOT TRUE. my baby never latched so I have used this pump exclusively for the past 8 months.I'm a first time mother and this is my best product I could have purchased for me and my baby.

broke fairly quickly
I ordered this for my first baby and had poor suction the couple of times it did work, but I wasn't off of my maternity leave before it stopped working all together. I bought a manual pump and never looked back. Second child is 7 months now and manual pump still works great.

Good idea. Poor quality
We have bought 3 similar products, but this one is the most powerful, and also can "remember" your pattern of pumping. The big problem is its poor quality. Ours has been broken twice within 5 months. The 1st time was due to the small component in power adapter, and the 2nd one looks more serious because the pump stops working. We are dealing with CSR now.Anyway, we are worried about its quality everyday now because must use it several times on every single day, so we are looking for back-up. We do not believe a such expensive product can not last too long.
