I’ve used several types of these, from the more expensive brands like Kiefer to these type of foam dumbbells by Speedo, and like these best, even though they’re also the least expensive. The hard plastic Kiefers are clumsy to use in the water and do not make for smooth and even movements because of their design, and when bringing them down (or up) to touch your body— they hurt after several repetitions. The Speedos didn’t even last for a year. The material used to cover the grip that you hold onto started rippling and eventually sliding towards one side of the dumbbell, making it awkward and uncomfortable to grip. And the fabric hardened so much that I couldn’t straighten it out. I’ve been using these now for only a couple of months and they’re great and still look brand new! I can’t speak for their longevity at this point, but even if they only last for a year, they’re still only half the price of Speedo’s, and at this price, can easily replace once a year.

The weights work but they aren't that sturdy. If you use them alot I think the hand grips will pull apart
