The Clockwork Princess: Infernal Devices, Book 3

Absolutley Perfect Ending to a Series! I Can't Stop Crying.
I have been weeping for over an hour. Tears of joy. Tears of sorrow. Tears of regret. Tears of overwhelming happiness. Weeping. And I'm not a book weeper. It takes a lot to make me cry when I read a book, and even more to make me weep. But this book did it for me. My heart is absolutely ... well, I can't quite label it. I guess I could say that my heart is full. What a beautiful, beautiful story and an absolutely perfect way to end this wonderful Infernal Devices Trilogy. Nothing I say will do the book justice. Just read it. You HAVE to read it. It is a long book, yes. But it is so very worth the time to read. I took the time to re-read the first two books of the trilogy before reading this one, and I'm glad that I did. I felt as if I was able to re-experience all the wonderful events of several epic love stories, all mixed in with a good deal of mystery, intrigue, danger, and action. If you have the time, I would recommend reading the entire trilogy together, although it isn't necessary to do so in order to enjoy this last book. All I can do is tell you what I loved about it. Here goes:The love story. Love triangles have gotten very old to me lately. They irritate me. But this triangle never did. I absolutely loved all three of these characters -- Tessa, Jem, and Will. What made this triangle wonderful was that I would have been happy with Tessa choosing either of these amazing young men. They were both different and yet equally amazing. Adding to the magic of this triangle was the fact that Jem and William had a powerful bond between them that was almost equal to any sort of romantic attachment, so there was no petty jealousy or anger in this situation ... only selflessness and charity. It was beautiful. When the story begins Tessa has already agreed to marry Jem before Will discovers that there is no curse preventing him from loving another. He has declared his love, but moves aside once he knows of Jem's proposal and love for Tessa. The whole situation is heart-wrenching. Here's the big dilemma. As a reader I know that the only way for this situation to be resolved is going to involve tragedy. I know it's coming, and waiting for it to happen was awful. I wanted everyone to have a happy ending, but I knew it couldn't happen. It tore me up to read some scenes. But how it happened ... well, I won't spoil anything, but I will say that it was more gut wrenching than I could have ever imagined. It did not happen as I thought it would, and the entire experience was horribly draining to read. I can't say more without spoiling. I'll just say that there are some things that are just as difficult or maybe even more difficult than death. But let me finish this section by saying that everyone does get their happy ending ... eventually. That happy ending had me crying all most as much as the sad parts.Jem. Holy cow, how I love this boy! I have always rooted for Will in this story. That does not change in this book. But I believe that I am much like Tessa for this series. My heart is torn between equal love for two different boys. Jem is so kind and forgiving and thoughtful, and yet he isn't a boring perfect place holder. He has layers to his personality that always keep him interesting to read. His experience in this book is absolutely ... heart wrenching (I know I'm saying this too much, but I can't think of a better description). He could have ended up an object of pity, but he ends as a beacon of strength. I love him! Will. I've always loved tragic, tortured Will, and I always hoped he would end up with Tessa. His struggle during this book, loving the fiancee of his parabatai and choosing to stand aside because of his love for them both, is so powerful. He is strong even when he seems to be weak because he is always fighting to survive despite the odds. He has a fire to his personality that shines throughout this book. He isn't just a hopelessly smitten man who sulks throughout the pages. He fights and lives despite his tragedy. And I love him for it. His love for Jem and for Tessa is epic. There is no other way to describe it.Tessa. A girl in love with two boys. Normally this can be a formula for a heroine who drives me up the wall. But Tessa does not do this. She is strong, but she is kind and honorable. She tries the best she can to not hurt those around her, even though that is impossible. Her love for these two wonderful young men is not a sign of a fickle and selfish young woman. It is a sign of the powerful bond between three wonderful friends. She cannot be with both Jem and Will, but she works to do the best she can with the situations that come her way. She ends this novel strong, despite the fact that she is not a Shadowhunter like those around her. What is she? Well, that revelation makes her even more interesting to follow. The parabatai bond. This is a love story. Yes. But this is not just a romantic love story between a man and a woman. This is a love story between two men who are more than brothers, bound together with a bond stronger than even familial bonds. Jem and Will's love for one another and willingness to shoulder one another's burdens through this story is absolutely beautiful. So, so beautiful. I have never, ever read anything like it. These two are powerfully connected, making the events of this story both tremendously beautiful and terribly tragic at times. You won't find many relationships like this with those involved so willing to protect, give to the other, and sacrifice for another's happiness. So wonderfully written. The secondary characters. Although this is primarily a story of Tessa, Will, and Jem, the secondary characters of this book are wonderfully written. They are rich, nuanced, detailed personalities that strengthen the overall story. I was most surprised with how much I loved the Lightwood brothers in this story, especially Gabriel. Gabriel was set up as antagonistic in previous books, but in this one my feelings for him change completely. I loved his struggles and the inner strength that showed through his experiences in this book. I found him almost as fascinating as the main characters. All of the members of the Institute were fabulous. And Magnus. Ah Magnus! Love him!The epilogue. Never has an epilogue had me in such a state. I cried and cried and cried. Normally epilogues are set up in the future to show us just how wonderfully happy the main characters are after some period of time. We finish the book, smiling for the wonderful future they have. Is there a happy ending in this one? Yes ... sort of. It is a wonderful ending, but there is some sadness in the midst of the joy. It was perfectly written. I can't imagine a better way to end this story. But, oh man, it was hard to read. It reminded me in some ways of sitting in a funeral, celebrating the wonderful life of a loved one, shedding tears of happiness for the wonderful life we have shared together, while at the same time shedding tears of sadness for the end of those experiences. That was how I read the ending.Such a wonderful, wonderful book. I have never felt like saying this before, but this book deserves way more than five stars. I highly recommend the entire series. I LOVED it! I'm reading it again ... after I allow my heart to return to normal.

SO HEARTBREAKING! Yet perfect.
Clockwork Princess was more than I could have ever dreamed of. I have been waiting for it for such a long time. Been dreading it forever, because I did not see how it could possibly end happily. But I was surprised. Because Clockwork Princess is amazing. It is a perfect book, and now that I have read it, I know I will re-read the entire trilogy in a few short months.I was lucky enough to get my box set of this trilogy yesterday, four days before release date. I just pre-ordered it from book depo months ago, and I'm just so happy that they shipped it early to me, because oh, this book was perfect. I had to read it right away. And like always, I just had to peek at the ending before I started (A) For me, personally, I'm glad I did it. But I also think that you all should not peek at the ending, because there are more than just one thing being spoiled. Plus, it's so exciting to read it all :) Clockwork Princess needs to be loved. My review will not contain spoilers. As in, I won't say who ends up with who, who dies, who lives, and all that stuff :D But I will talk a bit about the book. Some things I loved. And the one thing I might have disliked a tiny, tiny bit. Overall, though, Clockwork Princess left me feeling happy. After Clockwork Angel left me a bit sad, and Clockwork Prince left me feeling destroyed. But then Clockwork Princess happened. And I can't help thinking about all my favorite parts, although most of the book is just a whole favorite part. Everything was amazing. Lots of heartbreak at times, but it is so perfect. Clockwork Princess was truly amazing.I loved this book with all of my heart. I'm having trouble finding words for it. But I'll try. First I want to say that there is a lot of love in this book. A lot of relationships. Like Gideon and Sophie. We see a lot of them in this book, which I adored, because I just love Sophie so much, and I think they would make an amazing couple. We also see a lot of his brother, Gabriel. Who I kind of hate because he hate Will :p But I do think that he would be perfect for Cecily, to be honest. He changes in this book. I approved. We also get to see Charlotte and Henry a whole lot. And I loved that. Although it did make me a bit depressed, because things aren't going very well for Charlotte with the Counsol. But still. Charlotte and Henry are adorable together, and I loved that she was pregnant. I just loved reading about them all. And oh. We get to see more of Jessamine. It broke my heart. It still hurts. But it was so perfect, and I loved it, and oh. It was amazing. We also see more of Magnus, and he is just so damn perfect. Love him so.We also learn so many other things in this book. More about Tessa's clockwork angel. More about the automatons that belong to Mortmain. More about him too. Yeah, we see more of him too. And I kind of loved reading about him; perfect villain. Meaning, I hated him. But yeah. We also learn who Zachariah (from City of Lost Souls) is. And that was pretty amazing. But oh. The ending. The epilogue. Made me just about die for the last Mortal Instruments book. I need to know what happens! Cannot wait. <3This book is mostly from Tessa's point of view. I think. Maybe. There is just so much Will that I cannot seem to remember. I adore Tessa. I really do. She loves two boys. Jem and Will. And I must admit that I still don't really see Jem as a love interest. But I do adore him. But yes. Tessa is amazing. I didn't hate her for loving them both. I really didn't. Which I'm just so glad for. She is also special. She's immortal, which is kind of sad, but also pretty amazing. We get to know for sure what she is in this book :)Then there is Jem. Who is engaged to Tessa. And that just broke me so much in the second book. Did not approve. But oh. I do love Jem. Just love Will more. But yeah. Jem is an amazing character. I love the love he have for Will. Even for Tessa. And I do think that Tessa really loves him, she just loves Will too, and it's sort of breaking her in half. I enjoyed reading about Jem. There is only about one small passage from his point of view, though, but it was amazing still. I can see why people love him. Maybe. But my favorite character in these books is and will always be Will Herondale. He is just all kinds of perfect. In book one he was broken. Book two broke him even more. And book three. Well. I won't say much about it. But oh. Will is perfect. He's funny and sweet and kind and so damn selfless. He loves Jem so much. He would do anything for his parabatai. I loved that. I loved his and Jem's relationship. I just really loved reading about Will and Jem together :) And Will and Cecily together. Adored them all. Then there is him and Tessa. I want them together more than anything. He loves her so so much. And it breaks my heart all the time. Just see my teasers.. It's heartbreaking. And amazing. And ah. I won't spoil anything. You just need to read this book. And I want to talk about it all. I really, really want to, but I won't, because it would just spoil everything. Just know that I loved this book. I loved everything that happened. Every. Single. Thing. Especially page 419. Best pages ever. Really, truly the best.Clockwork Princess is amazing. Like I have said a billion times now. But it is. I'm so glad I read it. It was just so worth the wait. And I think everyone will be pleased with it. Some might not, but I hope all will. I was, at least. There is a small thing I disliked a little. The epilogue and the end. I loved the ending of the book. I really, truly did. But I kind of wish the epilogue hadn't happened. You know, the 130 years in the future thing. But I also loved getting to know some things. But it is also heartbreaking. Like really heartbreaking. There was one thing I wasn't thrilled about, but it made sense, so I kind of enjoyed it.One thing you should know. If you get the Clockwork Princess first edition, do NOT look inside the book cover until AFTER you have read the book. Because yeah. The family tree is there on the cover, and it's kind of easy to notice things ;p I didn't check it first, and I'm glad I did, but yeah, it's very spoilery, so don't do that at first :) But oh. You need to go buy Clockwork Princess. Because it is amazing. A perfect ending to the trilogy, even with my mixed feelings about the epilogue ;p Read it, love it. You need it.While reading Clockwork Princess I wanted to take a picture of all the pages, to save my favorite quotes and lines. I actually ended up with a lot of pictures. Most are way too spoilery to share, though, but I will share at least one teaser below. And if I do say so, it's pretty awesome. Clockwork Princess was just amazing. So much better than I had believed. And it has made sure that I will be reading the first two books again. It felt like I had forgotten a few little things, but not that much :) Hope you all love it.(Want a couple of teasers? Perfect series
I am utterly wrecked. This book and the epilogue make me cry so hard every single time. Every. Single. Time. 😭What a wild and emotional ride. I cried on and off for the last two-thirds of it. And I am not even ashamed of it, because this series is perfection, and Jem, Will, and Tessa are perfection. It is sad and beautiful at the same time. I just can’t find words to explain how much I love this series. It is a roller coaster of emotion, but every single one and every single tear is worth it. I was angry and frustrated at times, I laughed out loud so many times because of the witty dialogues and sarcastic comments, and I also bawled my eyes out at other times.
