Alpha 71201 Lead Free Sal Ammoniac, 4 Oz

I ordered and received this Alpha Metals Sal Amnoniac (71201) block and it is on my soldering station bench. I do some electronic projects and my soldering iron is always in need of some maintenance on the tip. This block helps me keep the tip tinned and in good shape to do more soldering. I like it and hope it makes my iron tip better in the future. It is about 3"x2"x2" and perfect for my dish where my tip cleaner sits. I like it.

This stuff is like magic! I had an old soldering iron tip I was ready to throw away because it instantaneously oxidized and now it's practically as good as new. If you have a soldering iron tip you need to renew, this is what you want.

I bought a block specifically to rid my room of silverfish, ideally the whole house.So, having purchased the block sometime in late May or early June, in the first half of July I found a silverfish within a meter of my exposed block of sal ammoniac. I have also still been seeing silverfish in other rooms. Clearly this stuff doesn't work for pest control.I originally got the idea from from Wikipedia, but it appears that this claim had been removed during June or July. This is real-world example of Wikipedia being inaccurate, and I paid for it, literally.I gave the item two stars because the stuff probably works for soldering and food-grade purposes (I'm not sure), and the item itself isn't defective. I just found it ineffective for my use.

For a long time i've looked for this stuff. It is great to tin the hot iron and to clean the soldering tip. Don't know how I worked without it. It works great.

I thought I had totally ruined my soldering iron because I left it on overnight. After using the sal ammoniac block to clean and retin my soldering iron it is like new. I would recommend this.

I wasn't aware there was a product to clean my soldering tips, so I was happy when I found this. It works great and helps keep my tips in good shape
