Our 20-year-old sealed oak staircase was becoming treacherous for my aging wife and me. This product arrived yesterday and I installed it this morning. I think it will be great for our purposes. We compared its price to alternative approaches of painting the steps with something gritty or installing additional railings, and this approach already looks like the best value. I was worried about the installation, but there was no need. In case it proves helpful to others, here's the approach I used. First, I cleaned the wood surfaces with cleaning wipes followed by a moist cloth. Second, I fiddled with questions of which layer was the backing and how I could best peel it off. The backing is a very thin clear plastic sheet and not the white material beneath it. There is some challenge in starting to peel it. Sometimes a vigorous pull on the arrowed tab got it to start separating and sometimes not, in which case I ran my thumb over it a few times to initiate the separation. Then, I found that a pair of tweezers was much better than my fingers in gaining a purchase on the sheet after which I could grab hold of it with my fingers. It came off neatly in one piece. The next surprise was that the sticky surface of the tread was not very sticky -- at least not to my touch. But it worked great once attached to the stair-tread. I could even make adjustments in its placement by lifting part of it or all of it and then pressing it back on. My wife and I made trial runs up and down the stairs and found the surface very stable to walk on. It does gather fuzz easily and I had to remove a few pieces from the newly applied surfaces before taking these pictures. But this is not really a complaint.

Writing a review after our 2nd purchase of this stair tread. We bought the beige / tan color and it looks decent with our oak flooring. We have two 50lb dogs who are fluffy and slip on the hard surface floors, so this helps them have traction going up and down the stairs. The treads stay in place and held up well... The price is reasonable enough that we replaced the whole set once some of the treads started looking very worn out. To note - the material will trap dirt but can be vacuumed. A darker color tread will hide dirt better than the beige ones we bought.

Purchased because my elderly dog was slipping and falling on the stairs and needed something to grip. We are starting a kitchen renovation soon so I didn’t want to put a nice runner down just before it would get messed up with construction dust and debris but my dog needed something. This was the Compromise.Pros:Very good price.Very easy to install.Very easy to remove and adjust.I can vacuum them and they don’t come up (I am careful at the edges)Have not damaged hardwood stairs in any way. Dog stopped falling on the stairs - most important part!!!Cons:They are not beautiful.They look fairly cheap.They cling to hair and lint and threads a bit. But that is carpeting and why I didn’t have carpeted stairs in the first place, wood is simply easier to keep clean. I like a clean house. I hate cleaning. I am the house cleaner… nuff said.Summary:These work for the purpose I am using them for. I don’t regret purchasing but glad I didn’t spend more. I plan to wash them and donate them when construction is finished, assuming they survive the wash.If you are looking at my pics for color reference we have medium colored oak floors - gunstock to be precise.

These Eden Products stair treads are well made and easy to install. Straightforward instructions are included: 1) clean the surface of the steps (vacuum and wipe with a clean cloth); 2) determine the location where the treads should reside (use a yardstick or tape measure); 3) remove the backing (it peels away easily and leaves no sticky mess); and 4) apply the adhesive surface of the tread to the stairs (press the tread into place with your hands).All 15 treads were used. The leading edge of the tread was placed 1" from the edge of the step. Then the tread was centered on the step. A yardstick (1" wide) was placed along the edge of the step, which allowed a uniform appearance to be easily achieved. Centering the tread was a simple matter and was the same for all 15 steps. Complete installation took only 1 hour.Once placed, the treads have stayed in place with no slippage. They have enhanced the safety of traversing the stairs for both persons and pets. They are easily and quickly cleaned with the vacuum. The treads have greatly improved the appearance of the stairs as well.Very pleased with everything about this product. Would install these again with no hesitation. Recommended without reservation. Theses treads get a grade of A-Plus!

Our dog recently tore her acl and needed something to help prevent the sliding she does from running around the house and stairs. This was absolutely perfect and exactly what we needed. Inexpensive. Put it on in minutes. Great adhesion and will never ruin the expensive hardwood. I love it and will buy again for the basement stairs next. I wish they made larger landing strips for the bottom landing and area rugs. Not sure if they do but they would be awesome. Also, arrived by Purolator next day.

**Do not try to wash in the washing machine; it causes the carpet to detach from the adhesive backing! I will buy these again but vaccuum only, maybe handwash cold and hand dry.**I needed something on the stairs of our rental that wouldn’t damage the flooring, but would help my stubby legged old Frenchie climb the stairs on her own. Us humans had our own slips down the stairs as well and we have small kids we’d like to keep in one piece.Firstly, I ordered this product on Saturday and expected it Tuesday but they tried to deliver it SUNDAY already so that’s crazy fast turnaround.I was super impressed with the individual strips, they cover a good width of the stairs. I wiped the stairs down with vinegar water and dried well before installing the stops. The adhesive backing legitimately sticks to the steps and is easy to reposition - Even with the raised trim at the edge of the step it doesn’t slide around. I also see now how you could easily machine wash these and they’d still adhere to the stairs.I was so happy when my dog was able to get up and back down the stairs all by herself! My back thanks you, my dog thanks you and I thank you!
