Go anywhere near the edge with your fingertips and come away with what feel like paper cuts
I read a review that said these knives are too much for the home cook. I scoffed. How could a knife be too sharp? Well, these actually are. Go anywhere near the edge with your fingertips and come away with what feel like paper cuts. Clean them with your sponge and it slices that up too. These things are really, really sharp. I keep them in the box they came in because I don't want my kids anywhere near them. They are fantastic knives for serious chefs. If I had to do it over again, I would just take my old pedestrian Henckles in to be professionally sharpened and leave it at that.

Way better than my Shun Classic
This is a great set and while I like my Shun Classic 7 Inch and 5 inch Santokus, the Premier is significantly better. And the big bonus is my wife loves the pairing knife and says it's her new favorite. If you are debating between Shun Classic or Premier get the Premier. For the price on this combo the santoku comes out to less than I paid for my classics. On a side note I also bought a 1000/6000 grit Shun sharpening stone set on Amazon that is well worth the money and effort.

way better than other Shun lines
Maybe because I am biased towards the santoku knifes, maybe not, but this set is definitely of great value and the walnut color handle is very pretty to look at. This knife is surprisingly lighter than some other santokus i have used, and this set is extremely sharp. With Shun's lifetime free pro sharpening (you have to pay for the shipping though), this is an excellent investment, and I am already using this set way more than the others. I like this way more than the classic and Edo line.

GREAT knives. Small one chopped the point
Bought as a gift for my mother.GREAT knives. Small one chopped the point, she got a free replacement without me having to get involved. I love using them when I visit and cook for her.I've got a Global, this is far better.

with a very fine blade angle
These are both stellar choices for kitchen knives. If I could only use one knife for the rest of my life in the kitchen it would be the Shun Premier Santoku. These are thin bladed knives, with a very fine blade angle, not for chopping though beef bones. With that in mind you really can't go wrong with these.

Fantastic knives
These are awesome knives. Literally razor sharp, and with a beautiful design. They are comfortable to hold and work with. The paka wood handle is beautiful and durable. The blades hand hammered finish makes slicing a breeze and definitely helps keep food from sticking. I love these knives and would recommend them to anyone.
