TaoTronics Bluetooth Headphones

Absolutely Phenomenal Value Proposition. ***Updated***
I am absolutely stunned by what Taotronics has managed to accomplish here at this price point. I paid $45 for these and couldn't be happier. I own a lot of headphones. They almost all serve a specific purpose or have been replaced by an upgrade. All of them are in ear models. This holiday season I purchased the Sony WH1000 over ears for my wife. I was blown away by the sound, comfort, noise cancelling, and battery. I REALLY wanted to find a way to justify a second pair but, alas, common sense finally won out. I already own the stellar in ear Sony's. Owning both would be absurd, at least for me.Fast forward a month or so and I was still haunted. I decided on the compromise of finding an inexpensive set of over ears. I actually had some experience with Taotronics and, like their competitor Anker, found that they did a credible job of replicating more expensive tech for less money. So, given the stellar reviews, I plunked down $45 with no expectations for how they would compare to the Sony model. After 24 hours of ownership I can say without hesitation that Taotronics has a homerun here with one caveat: They do everything well but they are most certainly not Sony or Bose quality. Here's the breakdown:The good:- They feel right. Plastic but a quality build. They have a nice weight and feel for sure.- The noise cancelling is really good. Maybe not up to par with the big boys but you will not be disappointed. When on with the ANC switch engaged, the outside world is pretty much gone.- Battery life seems solid though I only have about 8 hours on them so it is to be determined. I will update as we go on that front. There isn't anything bad so we will jump to the only thing that is really mediocre here and that is the sound. If you are getting these strictly for music, are a BIG music fan, and really love loud clear thumping sound, save your money and grab either the latest Sony or Bose models. You just won't be happy here. That said, if you are like me and have some other options for music and / or plan on using for podcasts and video in addition to an occasional jam session, then you really should pull the trigger here. The sound is good. It's a B minus. Just not great. Also, they aren't really loud either. Not horrible just not super loud. Again, sound all the way around isn't a negative to me it's just that you need to curb your expectations and know what you want. These are $45 headphones after all!I am traveling soon so I will really get some time with these and will update as I learn more but, at this point, these Taotronic cans fall into the absolute no brainer purchase category for me. Nice work Taotronics!***Update***I have spent alot of time with these cans now. Battery life is amazing. While I won't take back my B- score for sound, I will say that they are probably more than fine for most. Working great at this point. Still highly recommend.

Extremely comfortable, low cost, but won't last more than 4 months
I bought this when the pandemic started, I had no complaints.I think the quality is great for the money, a really valuable purchase. It pairs to two devices at the same time, a feature I didn't know they had, pleasant surprise. The Bluetooth connection has great long range. The battery sure doesn't last for 40 hours, but 30+, more than enough to go for two days of use without recharging. They also have a USB charge port, so I can travel with only one charger. And suddenly they died in me 😟 after 4 months of almost daily use. The noise cancel button still works, and the headphones work when plugged with an audio wire, but I bought Bluetooth headphones for a reason.I know they are cheap, but I was expecting a longer run, and a diminishing battery, not sudden death.

Good quality, particularly for price
I bought my wife a set of Skullcandy bluetooth headphones about 2 years ago. The battery failed to hold a charge in less than a year. Considering the price, utterly unacceptable. Being a bit gunshy of rechargeable headphones now, I figured I'd try again, but I wasn't going to spend much in case it was another lesson in disappointment. Thankfully these Taotronics have been wonderful. My wife uses them nearly daily to listen to youtube lectures and podcasts, so I'm not going to comment on musical reproduction, which I'm sure could be criticized, but they've been great. She easily gets a full day of battery life and she reports they're comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Happy I gave these a shot. Absolutely worth the money.

(still) Utterly frustrating
Sound is good and they're comfortable, but that's after I've spent nearly an hour every time trying to get it to pair with my desktop. I've followed their instructions dozens of times. Everything from charging it completely to pressing and holding buttons while it's trying to pair to clearing the pairing history to trying all of this within just a foot or two from my desktop machine and so on... Today, I've given up on it. I may just get a cable to connect it. That may be worth the price.UPDATE May 21, 2020: I was happy when Taotronics sent me a replacement for my headphones a couple weeks ago. They seemed to work the first two times that I tried them. Now, they are sitting beside me with a red light glaring that I can do nothing about. Supposedly, the red light means that they need to be recharged (this, after a total of a half-hour of listening after a full pre-charge), but when I plug them in to recharge, it never makes it to the blue-as-charged light. Charging overnight, the best you can get is a kind of red-blue combination until you unplug it and it goes solid red again.Pressing combinations of buttons does nothing - it just stays red. I'm tempted to let it sit and drain and see what happens then, but, really??? What a mess!UPDATE: On September 18, 2020, I posted an update that has since been removed. It stated that I was getting regular emails from this company asking me to remove my 1-star review in exchange for a "$40 Amazon gift card at no additional charge" which is pretty much a bribe. Now today, October 24, 2020, I received an email asking me to remove my review accompanied by a sob story that, "...i have to keep this job because i got two little girls to feed. if i can`t get my job done, i`m afraid i would got fired. i really need ur help to remove the review..." Pathetic.

Great comfortable headphones
I have 3 sets of Tao Tronics headphones are these are the best. All the Tao Tronics headphones I have are very comfortable but these are the most comfortable. I also have the Bose 35 and the ear cushions on the Tao Tronics are as good as the Bose. Soundwise these are not exactly flat reference monitors but for day to day use I have no complaints.

Listen Up!
Bought for Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) for working from home. This is the THIRD of three brands tried.PRO's: - Comfortable - Have a great battery life - Connected easily to my PC (and mobile phone) via Bluetooth - Reconnect immediately when PC Bluetooth is switched on (and likewise when using Bluetooth on mobile phone) - AMAZING ANC (whilst playing music) - Really, really, really impressive - GREAT ANC (whilst on calls) - Very impressive - GOOD ANC (with no audio playing at all) - Quite goodCONS: - Low loudness level (clearly, this can be rectified by simply increasing source volume level). - Would have been 5 stars but for this.Headphones History - leading to this purchase:MPOW BH388A - FIRST OF THREE BRANDS TRIED: - 1st set of these headphones physically broke on the outside plastic above a hinge -> great service from MPOW, headphones replaced quickly. - 2nd set of headphones developed a fault in the left earpiece - an uncomfortable 'vibration'/'throbbing' when ANC was switched on. - MPOW themselves suggested a refund! I took the money back, and was surprised they did not want to provide another set of headphones!?OneOdio A10 - SECOND OF THREE BRANDS TRIED: - I then Invested a little more in a set of OneOdio A10 headphones (cost £44), the music quality was amazing! Incredible for a set of headphones for under £50. Unfortunately the calls connected to PC via Bluetooth on MS Teams, MS Skype and Zoom were simply appalling quality, truly terrible. Returned same day as purchase - refunded no issues atll all - great service from OneOdio's seller.THESE TaoTronics TT-BH085 Headphones - - THIRD OF THREE BRANDS TRIED: - Went back to the mid-thirties price range (£36.99) and bought a set of TaoTronics TT-BH085 headphones. These TaoTronics have incredible ANC. The ANC is amazing (unbelievable) when playing music. The ANC is great on voice calls. And is still good even when playing nothing, and just having the ANC on. The only downside with the TaoTronics is the loudness level is the lowest of all three sets of headphones tried.MPOW for all around performance – highly questionable product qualityOneOdio for amazing music (stunning)TaoTronics for ANC (amazing)

Excellent NC Headphones
I reviewed and bought these to try and alleviate the constant 24/7 noise of a pumping station for a large reservoir that we live close to...The noise from these pumps is at times, deafeningly loud. So, how did these NC headphones help, firstly, there are no published information of frequencies range - noise levels or anything else.... you just have to bite the bullet and try them out. I found Amazon customer reviews very informative and helpful...Do they work and how well??... I first tried them listening to my favourite music, "Jacques Loussier Trio" recorded live in 2007 at "Jazzwoche Burghanausen which I have listened to on some very expensive headphones....The upgraded TaoTronics NC Headphones performed superbly I was able to hear Piano - Double bass and drums in a level and quality I had never before heard, the level of detail is so accurate. I also tried them whilst listening to another favourite performer, Anna Fedorova in a live recording of Rachmaninoff Piano Concert number two with a full concert orchestra.....the listening enjoyment was superb and without any fatigue whatsoever.....Did the noise cancelling aspect work...Yes it did and was remarkably efficient, the noise of those horrendously water pumps disappeared as well as background television sound and other ambient noises generated within the house, clocks, fridges, doors etc. Needless to say, I am delighted with my purchase and it proves to some extent that stated frequencies - noise levels etc are really not the only indication of quality of sound....."Proof of the Pudding" ...worked this time for me. Please note, these are my unbiased thoughts.

Great price, good earphones, ok build, but that hiss/static/white noise is killer
The headphone look and feel great, worked on s 7yo head and my big male head. So first impressions are good. They do look and feel a little fragile though. The hinges do not look strong, the buttons whilst clucky and positive do not give me confidence they will last. The sound quality itself is good, I would never expect great for this price. Not experiencing the high bass others have mentioned, so pleased here.Only one problem stands out. With ANC off, no audio, I hear a hiss. Playing music I hear a slight hiss. Turn ANC on, the hiss is very audible on top of all music untill I hit around 70% volume.Yes I know this is how ANC works.Yes I do have pretty good hearing.Yes it is luck of the draw with the product hitting or missing your frequency. But it is distracting. To a certain degree, it does ruin the product. But it's probably not enough to return as a fault. Hence, lower scoring and it not quite meeting my needs/standards.Maybe I should have gone for the next model up, as it might have made a difference. But Taotronics have been good to me on multiple earbud purchases, so it's better than a unknown brand. But these just did not live up to their other products good quality at great prices.

OK, so not top end, but good value.
I needed a reasonably priced pair of headphones to link with my Tao Tronics blue tooth transmitter connected to my Marantz Amp so I could watch TV and not bother her indoors. I have to say the distance and sound on these are very good, indeed I get better distance with these than my more expensive Bose QC35 II. Of course sound does not fully compare, however I needed these as the Bose do not have low latency capability, apparently this leads to loss of lip sync I believe. No such thing with these. There is an issue when connecting to the transmitter, sometimes quickly other times a bit of a faff, but once connected everything is fine. I can go into other rooms and still hear the TV perfectly through walls and closed doors, an immpresive greater distance than my afore mentioned Bose!!. There is a Noiseless button on the headphones that is supposed to improve noiseless capability, but I am yet to be fully convinced. For the price they have solved my issue. Recommended.

Great ANC, quality sound, poor Bluetooth
The ANC is excellent for the money, and the sound quality is very good too. However, I found the Bluetooth connection failed quite frequently - The headphones would announce that they are connected, and my phone would show them to be connected on the Bluetooth settings page, but sound would come out of the phone instead of the speakers. Manually disconnecting and repairing would fix the issue, but it occurred far too frequently and I sent them back.I also personally find the “multi-function” volume buttons, that double as m skip forward/back buttons, to be annoying. I primarily listen to audio books and often want to skip back multiple times in quick succession, but find it very inconvenient to have to hold the button for several seconds each time, wait for the skip, then hold again. And when you don’t hold it for the right time (there is nothing to indicate when you have done so), then you end up unintentionally changing the volume instead. As a result, I found myself continually getting my phone out of my pocket to do the skipping. They are sturdy, but I did find the Headband extension mechanism to be more stiff than is ideal.
