Still the Best Diaper Pail Out There – Just Know You’ll Empty It More Often Over Time
We’ve been using the Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail since our daughter was a newborn—she’s now 16 months old. Around 14 months, we actually bought a second one and replaced our original. Not because it broke, but because we hoped a fresh start might help with odor control now that she’s eating solids and having more frequent bowel movements. What I’ve come to realize is that it’s not the diaper pail—it’s just the reality of toddler diapers. When she was younger, we could go 2-3 days without emptying it. Now, we really need to empty it daily or every other day to keep odors in check. That’s just part of the phase.Even with that, the Ubbi is excellent. The steel construction does a much better job of locking in odors compared to plastic pails we’ve tried, and the fact that you can use regular kitchen trash bags is a huge plus—no overpriced refill bags required. I’ve also started putting a small baking soda air freshener at the bottom of the pail, and that’s helped a bit too. After about a year of use with the first pail, I did notice a couple of subtle dents and a small rust mark on the exterior, but nothing that affected performance. Clearly, that didn’t stop me from buying another one!If you’re looking for a diaper pail that’s efficient, easy to use, and looks nice in the nursery, this one is still my go-to.

No Special Bags, No Smell (When Closed!)
Love that you can use regular trash bags.. no overpriced refills needed. Yes, it definitely reeks when you open it (let’s be real), but when it’s closed, you can’t smell a thing. Sleek, simple, and does the job well.

Best diaper pail!
It is half the size I thought it would be but holds WAY more than I expected. We take it out approximately once a week when it is full. ZERO smell coming from or inside the pail. It is great quality. Does not easily dent and we have been using it every day for months without any issues with the seal or the bag holder. It is easy to use! I love that we can just use regular trash bags of our choice and not have to hunt for or order special bags. I heard a lot of poor reviews for competing brands like the Diaper Genie but I don’t regret this purchase! It is more affordable and goes on sale often! We live in an apartment and do not produce a lot of trash so we don’t have to take out our primary trash can often so it is convenient for our lifestyle to keep it separate.

Excellent find
I use this pale for our doggies poop bags and a family members disposable incontinent pads. Prior to this I had a garbage bin out in the garage awaiting pick up twice a week. The smell started to increase as the weather warmed up and I felt we needed a better solution. This pail does it. I emptied it twice a week using regular garbage bags that have odor buster properties so no special bags needed. Yes, you can smell the odor when you slide open the top hatch to dispose, but it is completely gone once you close the lid. Such an improvement from our previous system. The fact that this is metal and not plastic, like our garbage cans, means it can be easily cleaned and the odor removed if necessary. It is compact but holds a lot and would easily accommodate more, but I empty it when our trash day comes. There are lots of video reviews that demonstrate how it works that I found helpful prior to purchasing this.

Pretty good product, with a caveat for adult diapers.
I liked this container enough to replace it when I lost the old one in a fire. I had that one for 18 months. I am replacing the second one after 21 months because the plastic hinge on the back has broken in two places, so the lid goes all the way back when opened, and I am afraid it will eventually snap off completely.I use it for adult diapers, plus chucks, wipes and gloves, and use regular 13 gallon trash bags. I lock the small opening closed because the diapers are too large to put through it, it doesn’t really slide very well, and sometimes it gets stuck. The lid closes securely so must be opened with two hands. I hold the hinge side against my knees, steady the can with my left hand and pull the lid up with my right. The inside ring and the lid cannot then be lowered together, but must be lowered separately.Depending on the contents, there can briefly be a noticeable, but not overwhelming, odor when it’s opened to put a diaper in, and also when closing the full bag when it’s removed, but it quickly dissipates. I’ve never noticed an odor when it’s empty. I change the bag every other day and put the can outside, usually in the sun, or overnight. I think it’s as odor free as you’re ever going to get when dealing with diapers.Pulling the full bag out of the container requires a bit of strength, as it seems that a vacuum is created on the bottom when you pull. I’ve found that laying the container on its side makes the pulling much easier. I think if the container were any larger, dealing with the full bag would be more difficult, for that reason, and because I currently have to carry it across a parking lot to a dumpster, and it’s awkward and heavy. I’ve started changing the bag when it’s a little less than full. All told, I find this a pretty good design for its purpose, and have not seen a similar product that I thought would work as well. The plastic hinge and the slider on the top could be improved. Finally, it’s very unobtrusive and non-medical looking in the bedroom.

Worth the Money!
I absolutely love this baby trashcan pale! It does an amazing job of eliminating any odors as long as it stays closed, which is a huge relief. Plus, I really appreciate that I can use my own trash bags instead of having to buy special ones — so convenient and cost-effective. Stylish, practical, and odor-free—highly recommend!
