SSD's are hard to review until you had them for a bunch of years...
SSDs are usually splendid until they die.Even slow ones are plenty fast for most users, so the only real issues are DOA, incompatibility and early death. So, if you get one that is compatible with your system, not DOA and the Manufacturer looks like its going to still be around in a few years, it should be an automatic 5 star rating. While Crucial (Micron) SSD's are usually among the top performing drives, where differences aren't really that large, there are some caveats to look out for, when buying SSD's: there are some laggards among SSDs you want to avoid, there are some risky chip designs that might break down / loose data sooner than others, and there are certain drives that perform particularly well in some metric or other, which you should choose if you have very specific applications that can benefit from that particular metric. I presume those people know what to pick and don't really need details or advice.I use mine in a higher-end laptop, which I use for DAW recording/editing, CAD and the occasional game.I have no complaints. Its fast and it hasn't lost anything yet.If it does keel over before 500GB becomes so obsolete that I end up replacing it before 5 years are up, I'll update this review and drop some stars, depending on how long it went...So, 5 stars for lack of reason to deduct any ;-)

Cool technology. Did not boost my performance scores.
I was hoping for a lightning boot time. No faster than my old SSD. I had seen a YouTube video showing Windows 8 booting in 4 seconds. Win 7 takes 45 seconds to login screen. It also destroys my Windows Experience Index. I was hoping for a 7.8. Windows is not happy that it is not a Harddrive. That is Windows fault.

Great and fast
It fits and it works. It was not easy figuring out which specific flavor of M.2 were compatible with my board. There are a lot of variables and types out there. This one worked. The Samsung 840 is a bit faster if your mobo supports that, but mine did not. Happy with my purchase, saves room in a tiny case compared to 2.5" SSD.

Not for ASUS Mb
Please be aware this is a SATA M2 drive and most ASUS motherboards ask for PCIe M2 drive. So if you are thinking to have a M2 disk in your ASUS Mb, please don't purchase this.

Drive does not work
The drive does not Initialize & cannot be formatted. Even Crucial has been unable to helpI have tried multiple different USB3/SATA adaptors and installed in 2 different laptops with SATA M.2.

Fast performance
Bought to upgrade my 128GB m.2 SSD to 512GB. It works as expected, no complaints. Performance is pretty good, and much better than my old SSD; in my own tests, the Crucial M550 achieved actual read speeds of ~480MB/s, which is pretty close to the advertised rate of 550MB/s.

Little pricy but worth it for a mini-itx
I just did a mini-itx build. I wanted 2 hard disks (1 for windows and 1 for games) but the case I picked out only really has space for 1. This thing solved that issue. It is very fast. 514MB/s sequential read and 449MB/s random read according to windows. I had no trouble installing windows on it or using it as my primary partition. Also, it fits in the palm of your hand. How cool is that?
