The best all-metal budget watch on the market
Love this watch. Wasnt sure what I wanted to start with, I just wanted an all metal watch. My first purchase was a 48mm case (I won't mention what brand) which looked like a wall clock on my wrist. I have big hands but did not like the way it looked. I then read a lot of reviews of a lot of watches before making this purchase so i will try to summarise this in accordance to what i read. A lot of people review this watch as being too small at 37mm, I think it's the perfect size. Being automatic it does sit proud due to having the inner workings protruding from the base (this actually looks exagerated in the photo), but this took me all of a minute to get over and now I don't notice it at all. Ignoring the strap for now, the watch itself is beautiful. Sitting inside an immaculately polished case you get a pearly grey face which compliments the gold motifs on the hands and hour markers superbly, and in my opinion, is then surprisingly complimented further by the greeny white of the luminous detailing within - which by the way works very well, enabling me to see the time in the middle of the night at a glance. Having the day and date is always a must for me personally and I have not noticed any other language for the day other than English, I like that 'SAT' is blue and 'SUN' is red. I like the Seiko 5 logo. I like the glass back, giving you full view of the automatic workings and I like that the adjuster wheel is nicely set in and at an angle to centre, meaning it doesnt dig into that soft spot on the back of your hand. The metal band has had a lot of bad reviews with almost everyone advising to replace it for a leather strap. Though obviously cheap, I actually find no problems with it at all. I've worn the watch for a week now and do not look at it with any negativity and I find the clasp works very well, I like the Seiko embossing on the clasp. The band was far too big for me when it arrived but I was able to remove links myself easy enough to get the right fit.I bought the watch from Hollins & Hollinshead with next day delivery. Sure enough it arrived the next day, very well packaged, ticking with time and date all set up for me. That was a nice touch when I opened the box. The box by the way is stylish and came with user manual and stamped warranty from H&H.

A stylish timepiece at a great price.
My wife bought me this for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't worn a watch in about 3 years since the leather strap on my Lacoste watch broke (the second in as many years) and it was going to cost as much as buying a new watch to replace.I knew what I wanted - a traditional analogue watch with day and date, a blue dial and stainless steel bracelet, and none of that chronograph stuff. I'm not a diver, parachutist or mountain climber so I really can't see the point of wearing them day to day, plus they look gaudy, uncouth and vulgar (in my opinion). So my wife had a look at a few decent brand name watches and then asked me to pick one. When I chose this one, she said it was the exact one she would have picked. It arrived a few days later and the first thing that impressed me was the packaging. The watch was sitting on a little satin cushion with the "Seiko" name in gold. I tried it on and although it needed a couple of links removed (long "u" type bars hold the links in place and are very easily removed), it was perfect. The second hand is the "sweeping" type (it pauses very slightly between seconds) and as it is an automatic watch, there is no winding or battery replacement required. The back of the watch is transparent, so you can see the workings in action, which I think is a bit pointless since it will be on my wrist most of the time. But I suppose its a good way of telling if the watch is working or not. There was a tag on the watch showing the original pricing of $185, whether this is true or not is debatable. All in all, I'm over the moon with this watch. I'm hoping it will last for years and as it is a Seiko, I won't be surprised if it does.

Back to basics
I've had Seiko watches for a good few years now, and when my faithful quartz model recently "failed to proceed" it was to one of their automatic (self-winding) movement models that I decided to look. The 5 series is well established with a good track record of reliability. It has a tried-and-tested self-winding movement, has a simple, clear display and is pleasingly easy to adjust for day, date and time.As well as that, it's showing commendable accuracy so far, and is very affordable. What's not to like? There was a brief tussle with getting the bracelet adjusted to my wrist, but it now fits well and is comfortable to wear.As for the quartz movement chronograph model I have, it should recover after a change of battery. I'll keep it as it's unerringly accurate, but the new automatic 5-series is a firm favourite.

This is an entry level Seiko 5 automatic. It will be the best watch you will buy for the money.
This is a 37mm case size Seiko. Compared to a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust this is about a tenth of the price. Nevertheless the build quality is excellent. The dial on this one is blue sunburst (I have two of these). Seiko entry level bracelets are notoriously rubbish. I replaced the first with an "oyster" bracelet. This one will be replaced with a "jubilee" bracelet. At the moment it has on it a French Marine Nationale parachute elastic strap in light navy with a white pinstripe. It looks beautiful. For little money you can have a really beautiful affordable watch that outshines any vapid fashion brand out there. With a decent cuff, jacket and tie you will look the proper gentleman (or lady) just behave in a manner that befits the watch. Water resistance isn't great. You won't be swimming in it. Hardlex is more scratch resistant than most crystals. The watch is extremely accurate and can be hacked if you know exactly what you are doing. Otherwise winding is done by the Seiko shuffle. I'll get the white one to complete the collection and that's it. Oh and they'll outlive you by years. Keep it out of the humidity and wear it. In the 80s the applied indeces were known to detach. Maybe not so much now.

Beyond expectations
This watch is beyond explanations. For an automatic high quality stainless steel watch at this price point is unbelievable. I have Rolex , Tag, Breitling etc. Not sure why we pay for the "Swiss Made" as the Japanese have it down. Seiko is the better Swiss! I have 3 Seikos and will be buying more! Chris

RELOJ HERMOSO

Best watch you could buy for the price
I love this watch. Initial reaction that maybe it would be to small a size but because I have very large forearms but no it fits really good on the arm and looks amazing. I have also seen the new lineup of there 5 series watch's which look quite appetizing to my eyes. Best bang for your buck watch out there no questions.
