Star Wars: Episode 2 Zam Wesell Large Doll

She ain't that bad!!
I'm assuming that many looking at the review are adult Star Wars collectors/geeks such as myself. I collect only vintage & 12 inch figures & I bought this one at a steal. It was defintely worth it. The figure will not support itself to stand, but as a collector, I don't intend on "playing" with it, only displaying it. And for that, I have 12" figure stands that I use. On a stand, it's easy to put Zam in a cool action pose. The monster mask she comes with is very cool. My only complaints are this:a) the scarves that are supposed to attach to her helmet to cover her face do not work well. It's just hard to attach properly.b) Her face sculpt, as someone mentioned, is pretty "butch." She looks more like Annie Lennox than Zam. I keep the monster mask on her.c) the head, like many of the Star Wars female figures of late, is indeed too big. I don't know why this has become a problem over the years. It never was before, was it?Other than that, who cares if part of her costume is molded to her body?? It's only on her arms, and you have to look close to tell. The rest of the costume is fine. Who cares if the body sculpt isn't very articulate? If you display her as I do, it's good enough to pose.

Warning! Bad vinyl batch in some of these dolls!
Ok, I'll admit right out, I bought this figure to mug for her gear. After disarming her of weapons and accessories, I mostly forgot about her for a couple years, leaving her on a shelf with some other oddly-proportioned Star Wars figures. Just yesterday I got the idea to see how much of her clothing would actually come off, with thoughts of using it for other figures. The boots and pants were actually fairly easy... and that's when I noticed the greasy-sticky feel to the legs that is a tell-tale sign of a bad vinyl breakdown. This basically means the plasticisers are leaking out of her legs. There is no fix for this. If you have this doll, you may want to check for the same problem.

From the Spawning Grounds of Bad Renditions
From the depths of tragically constructed figures comes this version of Zam Wessel, complete with gargantuan cranial proportions and an outfit constructed of semi-durable fibers and the greatest gift to mankind - plastic! That's right, and if you act now you'll also receive something with less articulation than a Barbie Doll and a uniform that has been airbrushed on! O, and did I mention the mention the two pounds of material surrounding the brainpan? This figure has to be the saddest of the sad and the only one not to grace the hollowed halls of 12" Bounty Hunters for me. I say this because of the above-mentioned flaws, plus the fact that the shape-shifting "mask" she has with her looks absolutely dreadful when its placed upon the head that is three times larger than the body that has to carry such a burden. These flaws pretty much negate the fact that she has some interesting additions in the way of weaponry, armor, a decent looking - albeit oversized - helmet, and a few other accessories to add to the list.If you think you must buy this atrocious thing, then at least take a look at the larger pictures of it before making your decision. It is, in a word, vile, and you won't be happy with the beast. Forewarned is forearmed.

Articulation a bounty hunter does make!
First, the detail on the clothing is very good. Zam's helmet, binoculars, and armor are top tier work. The "samurai" skirt she wears could have been more than just a rubber piece with embossed details. This would have made up for a lot of the short comings. However, her head is too large and it is worse with the mask on. The worst part about this figure is that the articulation is liken more to that of a "Barbie" doll than a Star Wars 12" figure, a bounty hunter no less. I know Hasbro has made some amazing female figures for the "Joe" line and this would have been the figure to use that template for. If you were disappointed with the Aurra Sing to the point where you wish you wouldnt have bought it, don't buy this figure. If you are a completest to some degree, then go ahead and pick it up. Be warned, this piece is not destined for dynamic dioramas.

Nice rifle, okay boots, rest a loss
I agree with all the bad reviews. Oversized head, expression like a butch on a bad day, minimal articulation, padded outfit than you can't take off without damaging, really dumb bulky helmet. IMPOSSIBLE to believe this represents a fast, lithe killer rather than a stiff zombie guard. However, the sniper rifle (Lucas' usual sf version of generic WWII look) is high quality, and the boots are not bad for female action figures a little larger than Barbie. All depends on what you want her for.--(...)
