Nice but expensive.
ORG have released most of Diana's recordings on superb 200 gm /45 rpm vinyl and whilst expensive they are awesome masterings all from original analogue tapes. Pressings are normally faultless although on my copy of Quiet Nights there is some faint crackling but nothing too intrusive. This release has two more tracks than the original Verve issue. When this album was first released reviews were generally not as good as most of her previous. All songs are sung in soft and sultry Bossa Nova style with orchestration and some may comment that they are much the same with little variance in tempo. Whilst there is not really a bad track I think her choice of songs could have been better. Not her best album.Going back to the cost of this album I am not sure how Amazon can justify virtually doubling the price since when I ordered it just a few days ago.

Classic Krall.
I'm reviewing this album as a Diana Krall fan. I like her voice when singing both jazz and ballads. On this album, as the title implies, Diana sings in a quiet, reflective, gently swinging style, often accompanying herself on piano with a subtle lush orchestral backing that never overpowers her voice. The sound engineering and disc mastering is excellent, with Diana's voice forward in the mix and the accompaniment placed behind her. I loved all the tracks on side A, with So Nice, Quiet Nights, Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry, my favourite tracks on side B.I bought this album on vinyl, and my only complaint is with Verve; why, after taking care to produce a pressing on 180gram virgin vinyl, do they place the disc in a sandpaper type paper inner sleeve, which inevitably causes surface damage -- which can be seen and heard on side B of my copy. Pity! and something that so easily could be avoided by a quality inner sleeve.

Love DK. managed to see her in concert- sublime
Love DK. managed to see her in concert- sublime! This album comprises a number of iconic bossa nova hits and standards given the Krall treatment. The musicianship and arrangements are superb. My only gripe is that Diana's vocals don't sounf quite as effortless as one might expect. She sounds a bit strained on a couple of tracks which doesn't make comfortable listening. Still a fantastic album.

Just wonderful
My favourite Diana Krall album. Since first hearing this I have gradually been collecting her others. Very stylish, atmospheric, relaxing but not soporific. Because of this album I have been exploring Jobim and Bossa Nova. This then lead me to Nancy Wilson and on to discover many more albums. It kind of leads on like a chain, but I keep coming back to listen to this one. Wonderful

Relaxing nighttime music
Quiet nights is a good title! Sit in a comfy chair, pour yourself a glass of wine, turn down the lights and enjoy Diana Krall at her easy and sensual best. All relaxing slow tracks, unobtrusive orchestral and trio backing with good instrumental solos. This CD will lull you into a quiet romantic mood. The recording is of excellent quality. My favourite of all her CDs.

First Class
This is a beautiful album but then not truly surprising as most of Ms Krall's work is. Some great songs, lovely arrangements and that sweet, sometimes deep voice. Add her terrific piano playing and you have a winner. Certainly a good place to begin if you want to sample Diana Krall but then she seems to turn out consistently first class albums.
