A lovely collection of stories with bequtiful illustrations.If you are a fan of the Herriot series, this makes a great way to introduce children to the series with shorter stories. They also feature words and terminology that are true to the life of a vet at the time and will suit any age.Have purchased a second copy to gift to a friend's child.

This book was a treasure from the moment we set eyes on it on Christmas morning. It is so beautiful, high quality, generous and beautifully illustrated and written. It is a thing of beauty and my children were so enraptured by the lovely, gentle, joyful tales that my 4 year old girl and 7 year old boy begged for it every night at bedtime. Every night we read another story until it was finished. Truly the best book I have ever bought my children. It is charming and will fill your children with love, happiness and peace, as well as many laughs.

I am from the United States. Have always loved James Herriot books. My mother gave this collection to my son when he was three. All of my children have loved it, as have I. They are grown now and we still refer to some of the characters. My niece lives in England now. I felt her son needed this book so I gave it to him for Christmas. He loves it! They sent me a video with his thanks. He has acquired the sweetest British accent. I highly recommend this collection!

This is probably my favourite book for my little one. We have a farming background and it is lovely to read stories which are written true-to-life from the aspect of a country vet. The stories contain words that people from farms/country will appreciate, such as piggery, cleats, hock etc. A great book to read aloud. Lovely, slightly longer stories than other typical picture books. This is a book I know we will read for years to come (dv).

a lovely cd to put on and listen when the wind is howling outside or youve had a stressful day forget whats outside and listen to some lovely stories of people who care for each other and the animals in their care put it on for a child who finds it hard to sleep. enjoy....

Lovely short stories for the car or for youngsters that need extra time, even this older youngster loved the little tales from James Herriots treasury. young man I purchased this for loves an adult to read, followed by the disc of stories and followed up with soft music..perfect for his bed time routine...and comforting.

This is the only bedtime book where I let my kids see the pictures rather than just settling down - I can't deny them these beautiful pictures. The stories are lovely too and I like the veterinary and animal terms which increase my children's vocabulary.Recommended to anyone who has kids who love animals.
