Something to read
A good selection of poems to interest children in reading. Some are a bit precious and overly cute, some quite amusing. If nothing else, this goes to prove just how prolific a writer Anonymous was.

My mom used to recite many of these at bedtime
Bought one of these for each of my grandchildren who all have children of their own. They range in age from 6 mos. To 13yrs.

Must Love Poetry...
This book is appropriately named: Favorite Poems of Childhood. It's a sweet little paperback you can acquire for under $5. Great for the car or Grandma's house. It's full of wonderful poems by famous authors, the memory of which your children will carry into adulthood just as I did. I would have bought it just for "The Duel," a whimsical poem about a Gingham Dog and Calica Cat that get into an awful spat! I was surprised at the number of poems I was able to recite from memory! (The book helped me fill in a few of the blanks from over the years!) Spend some quality time with your child and enlighten their mind and spirit with some poetry. You won't regret it!

A sweet book of poems
I love this book of classic children's poems and find myself reading them even when my kids aren't interested. It's the perfect book for a sick day when your child is willing to be still and listen. Can't beat the price, either.

You'll probably like these more than your kids will
There are poems by many good poets here: William Blake, Lewis Carroll, Joyce Kilmer, Edward Lear, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Edgar Allen Poe, Robert Louis Stevenson, Alfred Tennyson, among many others. Considering this, I'd rate it a four or five. But, this book is really intended, it seems, for young ones. And given the age of these poems, and their language, and subjects, most children just won't "get it." These poems won't speak to them, sorry to say. May I recommend instead All the Small Poems by Valerie Worth, or anything by Shel Silverstein?

Childhood Dreams
It was a gift and she loved it. She read it as a child and that childhood was brought back to her. The book was as described and I am very happy with the service.

Charming in the simplicity and innocence of the poems. ...
Charming in the simplicity and innocence of the poems. Reading it with worldly fourth-graders who are poorer readers is an interesting experience, but we all are enjoying it.
