The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction

A required anthology textbook I needed this past fall semester for English Composition II, it was fresh and what I needed for my course. Even outside of class assignments I found myself reading some of the short stories for my own pleasure. 'The Things They Carried' By Tim O'Brien was a memorable read along with many other great pieces such as 'The Yellow Wallpaper', 'A Good Man is Hard to Find', 'Sonny's Blues', 'Everyday Use' and so much more.If you order this book for class, it's a good buy. I have pencil lines and notes all throughout mine. Using prime is great to get it quick for your semester.Overall satisfied! Will look into purchasing from Amazon for future books as well. My local college bookstore had the same book but was charging a few bucks more.

I purchased this for an Introduction to Fiction class I signed up for through my local community college. I consider myself to be a relatively bright person but I do not have a lot of experience with reading comprehension. I love to read but my reading is more on the...frivolous romance "chick-lit" side of things. That being said, I really enjoyed this. I think it was a great introduction/beginner book. The stories are short so they do not overwhelm. They are really good though! When I discover a new favorite I make my husband and other family members read them. I have discovered new authors and have purchased other works from them as a result of this book.I received this book through Amazon loan program (which I highly recommend) but I may buy my own copy.Highly recommended.

Bought this book for school. I wouldn't have bought it for anything other reason. But I have to say I have enjoyed the stories and learning about the authors in this book.

Some traditional pieces one finds in any good anthology and some less common. All-in-all it's everything you've come to expect in a Norton anthology--I know, I've been using Norton since English 101, over a half-century ago. Geeeez, am I really that old? Well, fifty years of good reading, much of which has been provided by Norton publishers.

The compilation of authors gives a good variety of stories. I only read the stories required by my class, so I had a strange set of stories, all rather eclectic in combination, so that is all I can speak to. My Mother got a hold of the book after I was done with it and she loved it so much she kept it, so I guess for those who like strange little shorts it might be perfect? Various styles of writing give a good spectrum of examples if that is something you want to read/see.

Great quality for the cheap price from the goodwill seller. Needed it for school and it sufficed.

Fantastic selection of classic short fiction.I bought this at the beginning of my degree and found it very useful. Norton are usually quite pricey but the extras you get online are well worth the money.

V comprehensive . Useful intro to much American short fiction.though like so many Norton antholgis not v sturdy: costly & with easily broken spines.

Needed this book for my class, but the soft cover has creases and folds easily due to the weight of the book, and it even arrived with a damaged cover. For the price of $90 they should have provided a nice hardcover to support the weight of the book.

Great collection, bought it used and it shipped by the date as promised. Only thing that was wrong with it was a little corner fold on the corner and a few subsequent pages. It's a textbook for a class so I'm not bothered, all in all great purchase.
