Perfectly good value for light duty
Perfectly good value for light duty, especially if you're depending on processing power elsewhere, i.e., if you're using a VPN or a virtual desktop. Love the form factor. Starts very quickly. Sound and camera are good enough. But the processor and RAM supplied are barely competent even for modern-day Web browsing -- you won't even have the patience to load up Gmail regardless of the speed of your Internet connection. And beware: The RAM is upgradable, but not in the sense you're used to. The RAM slots face are face-down on the motherboard, and you have to crack open the back and then unscrew the board to insert RAM, which most users are not up for.

Worth it!
I bought this on a whim, just scrolling through Amazon one day. I'm glad I did.It can freeze up a tiny bit at times, but I haven't had that problem often enough to really complain or it count against the star-rating.The disc-drive works well, plenty of USB ports for my audio equipment, and surprisingly Windows 8 wasn't that hard to get used to. I still have a few moments, but I knew I'd have to start learning it at some point, so why not now?Monitor's a good size, internal speakers are great, plays movies just fine. I'm really happy with the purchase. I've had a few HPs and luckily they've all been good to me.

Disappointment
I bought one as a birthday present for my boyfriend last month. It became a nightmare for me. My boyfriend told me that it ran so slow and hanged often. It was just one month, and stopped running now. My boyfriend is so frustrating. I don't know how to solve the problem as I live abroad now.

meh, it's alright.
The computer is easy to set up and get going, all you do is plug it in and the computer does the rest for you. The screen is a great size for the small office we have in the apartment and will work perfect for the school work and hobbies my husband and I have. The keyboard is cheap and a works only when it wants to, sometimes you have to double hit the keys or really smash them to get it to work. The same with the mouse, cheap cheap cheap. You think spending this much on a computer, especially an HP, you would get better quality accessories.Windows 8 is annoying and completely ridiculous but that has nothing to do with the computer itself. I'm upset that it did not come with at least a trial version of Microsoft Office now I'm spending another pocket full to get that....all in all it's an alright computer. It will do the job but I will end up having to buy something else to get everything I actually need.I also ended up having to get a replacement since the first one I ordered did not turn on...that was a HUGE inconvenience and was highly unexpected from the HP brand, definitely upset about that.

Seemed just fine....
Not 5 stars because I am not sure I would LOVE any computer! I like the 18 inch screen. Just fine for me, as we have another 23 inch HP as our main computer. Not sure what all the complaints are about Windows 8. It has been about a week that I have been playing with this. I kind of like the app idea. Just like a smart phone. I am still playing with it to personalize it. All apps on this computer are Bing , Microsoft apps. Just remember that if there is an app out there to download, get it for your start screen. Which is kind of cool. I am having a hard time finding settings to : "Print everything in grayscale". Simple on my other computers. Haven't found the place to set this simple request. I just remember setting up a new computer in the 90's! OMG. Talk about a time consuming effort..So this is nothing. Since we buy computers every 4 or 5 years, there is always a new way of doing the same old things. It is disguised using the terms "more user friendly"! Haha yeah right. I truly just pulled it out of the box, plugged it in and turned it on. It automatically found my wireless network. Literally in 5 minutes I could surf the web or send an email. Which is about all I use it for. If I have to touch one more screen I will scream, so this is mouse only! If I have said something that is not true, it is because I have not become proficient with this computer enough to know the difference. Ignorance can be bliss!! Great price when I bought it and it fits my needs and also some fun time.UPDATE: I was pleased in the beginning, but after 1 month the hard drive crashed. HP has wonderful customer service so far. Sending in for repair. I will update on HP customer service thru this process. Dropped my stars to two, which may still be too many. I do believe that things just sometimes go bad. It happens. If all goes smoothly on this situation, not sure how I will rate.

A great All-in-One
I bought this computer for my granddaughter so she could practice school work at home. That being said I wasn't looking for a high end desktop or laptop. The space where it's set up is limited so it had to be compact. This all-in one is perfect for a smaller desk top while retaining a good size screen. The AMD processor is perfect for basic computer chores. It runs educational programs easily. Plays movie disks (except Blu-ray) effortlessly. Surfs the web with no problem and plays streamed movies on Netflix with no problems. I've connected to the internet both with the ethernet lan and Wi-Fi connections available with the 18-5010. The picture quality is very good, the sound from the built in speakers good and it has a good build quality. Bear in mind this is not a power house but for the price you get a nice every day one piece desktop. And it looks good. I gave it five stars because it is perfect for what I wanted it for. Not as fast as my I3 laptop or I5 desktop but fast enough to handle everyday computing at a great price.

Kinda Pokey but it will do in a pinch!
Basic computer, glad I got a deal! Not all that fast, comparable to a low end laptop. You can speed it up with a USB plug in device a bit using the Windows feature that does this. Looks nice. Remeber to run the updates when you connect and it will do better. Hey, what do you expect for a new PC all in one for around $200 (it;s not worth anything near $400+ !!)
