Purchased this inexpensive novelty due in part because pens continue to disappear from my desk at work and as a simple trick item. 3 items to a package and all 3 are dead and not functionable straight out of the package. These are also not an operating pen. To insignificant for the trouble of returning for new items. Just BUYER BE WARE.

I ordered a few sets of these for joking with co-workers. Some pens worked better than others, some didn't work at all. Really a mixed bag of results. The ones that worked well were great, the ones that kind of worked were disappointing. They were cheap but still hoped for better results than I got. If you've got a few bucks order a couple of packs and find the ones that work best.

These feel like they're cheaply made but it does work! It sends a strange sensation through your thumb. I think they'll be fun stocking stuffers for my middle school son and nephew. I received three instead of two. All three shock but only two actually work like a real pen. I recommend for a fun gift for easily impressed/dramatic people. 😁👍

I should have known, but the 'shock' is way too weak to be funny. There's a slight tingle. Feels a little bit weird, but you might not even notice it. But for a safe prank for kids, it's fine, just not going to get any big laughs.

This would work pretty good if you handed it off to someone. However, ambushing some one by putting it in their pen cup likely will not work. Pen hits pretty good. Enough to startle you, but not hurt. Once you know what it does, you can hold the button and feel the sensation with no issues.However, do not use it against a metal ring. I'm not an electrical, so electricity is still kind of black magic for me. However, I pushed the button against my wedding ring and, oh boy, that thing hit hard. Not enough to hurt me, but still scared me.
