Alumicolor 18-Inch Beam Compass Rule (4110-1)

This works as advertised, but due to its weight it will poke a large hole in your canvas unless you put a block of wood underneath which is not always possible due to the canvas wood stretchers.

What not to like, simple to use at a great price.

when you use this, use a ruler to verify the distance, i found it is usually out about 1/16 of an inch. the ruler is accurate, the point and pencil are smaller and getting it exact, takes a moment.set up if really fast and you can draw a 36 inch circle if needed. pretty cool

Nice tool. Good concept. Except the lead falls out of the holder. Apparently the holder requires a DIY modification in order to draw with it. Too bad because I'd hoped to use it right out of the box, not re-engineer the thing first. Made in El Salvador.

Used this to mark out radii for tracks on a model railroad layout. Being able to ensure that the curves are as wide and even as possible helps prevent derailments and other issues, and being able to simply follow the marks from this has yielded MUCH better results than doing it freehand.A word of advice; take extra precaution when clamping down on the pencil lead, as it will break it you go too tight. Twist it just enough to hold it tight, and move it around the circle in a smooth and even pace. I was using it at nearly full extension and it worked great for me. A fantastic tool.

Easy to read scales

For making large circular shapes on canvasses, this compass rule is perfect.

Pivot point holder was not threaded deep enough, when you put it on the rule the cap would not tighten up enough to hold it in place making it un useable. Very disappointed as I could have bought a cheaper model. Paid the higher price expecting a better quality product
