Excellent lightweight lens
Great lens to pair with my Sony A7C. This is now my main lens,I don't use the 28-60mm kit lens so much.It is very lightweight and small enough to fit in my jacket pocket while mounted on the A7C which is very important to me as I like to take my camera with me all the time and don't want to always carry a bag. I do feel it could have been much smaller - there's a lot of extra space between the front element and the filter ring, so this lens could have been a few mm shorter and a good few mm less wide. Having said the benefit is that the element is very well protected as the lens has a natural hood. Talking of which, I love the design of the actual removable lens hood - it is very protective of the front element and you can easily not bother with the lens cap unless you're in bad weather for an extended period.Image quality is excellent as expected nowadays. I'm not a pixel peeper but I can see no reason anyone would be disappointed. Autofocus isn't the fastest but on a 35mm who cares? I don't do any video though so doesn't matter to me.The macro capability is brilliant, you can get really close to subjects so I don't need a macro lens. This is what swung it for me over both the Samyang and Sony Zeiss 35mm lenses. All in all an brilliant lens and excellent value. With the A7C and this lens I have the same capability and image quality as I had with my Sony RX1R but at a lower price. Recommended.

Nearly ‘great’… but for autofocus
A compact, light and sharp lens, with 35mm being a good compromise focal length for landscapes and street. No ‘extras’ on the lens (like locking button) and a shade ‘plasticky’ feel but has sharpness and contrast matching lenses twice as dear. With a decent close focus (half the Zony 55mm) this could have been a great ‘first choice’ for a budget ‘first lens buy’. Except the auto focus. 5 years ago the autofocus speed would have been really good. These days it is ‘acceptable’. Performance, other than focus speed, is really good and great value for money. (Used on Sony A7Rii and A9).

Really good but noisy
The lens is absolutely a beast at this price range.I have given 5 stars for what this lens is in this price range when compared with the high end ones.If I would compare it with high end ones, I would probably give 2 stars, but let’s not forget the price we pay for it.The glass is amazing for this price, of course again we can’t compare it with the G series from Sony, but again those cost a fortune. The focus is not very fast and it’s a downside when you have a camera with the best focus on the market, but it’s not terrible. The picture quality is over-exceeding if you look at this from the point of view of what price you pay for the lens. The only really bad thing is that is very noisy when used with certain apertures. When the aperture is opened to maximum, the noise is not a big issue. But when used at higher apertures above 16, then the noise becomes a problem.Initially I thought I received a faulty one, but after exchanging it and trying a few more, I realised that the noise is expected.I also started to hear this noise on my 28-75, but because the lens is bigger, you can’t really hear it that well, as the housing takes some of that noise and vibration.A friend of mine also realised that he hears the same noise on 28-75, but you can find it only if you look for it on that lens.On this lens, you can hear it really well.I guess it’s a compromise we can live with, if we want a good, cheap and portable lens.Overall I really love what this lens can do.

Great lens for a fraction of the price of the good Sony ones
I've had my Sony A7 for a few years now and I've been just been using the kit lens, I love landscape photography and figured it was time to invest in a wide angle Prime lens. Limited budget and whilst I'd love one of the Sony GM lenses, they're way beyond my price point and when searching for good budget alternatives this popped up. Read some reviews and watched some videos online and decided to go for it.Received it last night and updated the firmware (really easy and same process pretty much as updating my Sony lens, plug the camera into the PC and run the program, no extra kit required). Went to a local park today to test it out and really pleased with the performance. The landscape shots are expansive and have a nice level of sharpness and the macro ability is a nice bonus, love the bokeh effect on the picture of the flower posted which makes it look like it's floating. Will be interested to see how they turn out when using a tripod.I'm no professional, but very pleased with the purchase. Maybe one day I'll be in a position to get a GM lens, but this will definitely do the job for me and for £236 I'm very happy.

Great lens
Lots going for it: razor sharp across the frame wide-open; minimal aberrations; lightweight yet sturdy build; fantastic value. Autofocus is poor, but for what I’m using it for that doesn’t matter. Also a bit larger than it needs to be, which is because Tamron are trying to keep the same filter size across their range (like Zeiss Batis). Did I mention it was unbelievably sharp wide-open? Highly recommended.

Solid 24mm with some obvious flaws
For still photography this is a decent lens, It's image quality isn't bad - I use it with my Sony A7RIII.The auto focus is quite slow, but what's worse is its VERY loud. If you're planning to use this for videography then you'll need to switch over to manual and focus yourself which is fine for most shots but is definitely a downside. In addition the 2.8 aperture is pretty dark as expected.Very small form factor though so great for travel. All in all it's a well priced entry level 24mm with some flaws that are expected at this price range.

Almost perfect
The image quality is very impressive even at f2.8. Colour looks also fresh. Tight, light , versatile.Only complain is the auto focus problem when shooting videos with a7iv. After a short research, I found this problem is a common issue with all the three lenses. And Tamron released a firmware in March 2022, which resolved this problem. I am gonna try to update later.
