Horizon Memory Craft 9850 Embroidery and Sewing Machine

I bought this machine because of the 9mm stitch width and all the beautiful stiches designs, plus it runs smooth and easy to understand. Hope it lasts many years of service, Janome has a very good reputation with their sewing machines. I like the machine so far and I am enjoying doing some little projects for my newborn grandchild.

I bought this 9 months ago and have been regularly using it as my primary sewing machine and as an embroidery machine. I was replacing a 25+ yr old Kenmore Elite (which got heavy sewing use by me) and looking to start to get into embroidery. I didn't want to pay for 2 machines, so I sought out a sewing/embroidery combo machine. Pros: great features for the money - lots of great convenience things, great "starter" embroidery machine (especially if you're not sure how much embroidery you'll do), lots of accessories (especially presser feet), and active social media community of owners of this machine who are happy to help answer questions. Cons: machine is heavy, additional accessories usually have to be Janome brand to fit (which can be expensive), the machine is designed for intermediate to experienced sewing- definitely not something that I would recommend to someone just learning how to sew. Overall, if you sew, do light embroidery and don't want to spend a fortune on 2 machines, this is a GREAT purchase.

I brought Janome MC 9850 on 11/09/2025 with great expectation to expand my stitching skills. But this one scratches and dents the Bobin case frequently Couldn’t complete even one embroidery work.Can’t afford ordering extra Bobin case for each work. So returned it Yesterday. Waiting for refund to choose a better machine.

Love the rear mounting embroidery control arm, out of the way. Very quite running machine. Multiple sewing mode options. Well worth the money!

Very nice user friendly

I've had this machine for five years, with the last two getting heavy use. When this machine is working, it's great. The decorative stitches are fun and it's pretty intuitive. BUT. I shouldn't have to wrestle with my machine every time I clean out the bobbin area. It always takes me multiple, multiple attempts to get the bobbin case reseated. It does not love super lightweight material and the tension goes out of whack if you look at it the wrong way. I've tried to work with it because of the cost, but have thrown in the towel. I'm not even going to list this for sale or to give away.

I just got this machine. I’m still in the learning.stage about this machine. The machine is really nice it has so many features. The reason I gave 4 stars it has no instructional video. I guess you have to learn it on your own. Other than that I have no issues so far. Hope this is help.

Love it! Super smooth sewing and lots of accessories. I chose this machine because my mom has a larger version. Very similar. (I guess I'm turning into my mom.) Can't wait to go through her designs and take some home to try. Did I say... I LOVE IT?! ❤️ 😍 💖

The insanely poor quality of the machine delivered to me is truly unbelievable.
