Excellent Custard - Better than Jell-O Americana Custard!
I loved Jello Brand Americana Custard, then it was discontinued! I found Green’s Egg Custard on Amazon, it’s better than Jello brand! I prepared it as suggested online - 2 eggs yolks, custard powder & 2 cups of whole milk. I whisked it while I slowly brought it to a boil. I boiled it for two minutes, poured it into three custard dishes and generously sprinkled with nutmeg. It has a wonderful thick consistency, perfect! I’ve already purchased a 6-pack. Try it, you won’t be disappointed if you follow these directions.

Closest found to Americana
Believe this is the closest to Jello Americana - I add two egg yolks and it's delish - The price is entirely too high best to check around the net for another supplier.

Good custard, reminds me of another custard of years past...
I purchased this box mix in hopes that it would taste like my most favorite Jell-O Americana Custard, which has been discontinued. I read many reviews and and I was cautiously optimistic.I bought a 2 pack and started with just 1 box to get an idea....I made 1 box with 1 pint (2 cups) of 2% milk and I added 1 beaten egg yolk. I heated it on medium - medium/low heat to boiling then let it bubble for 1 minute - as the directions indicate (be careful - I made mine in a short-sided sauce pan and it foamed up so much during the boil that it almost boiled over). My intention was to eat it like custard, not in a pie or tart. I poured one serving out into a small Pyrex bowl, then I added a splash of vanilla to the remainder that was still hot in the pan. I did not heat the mixture with the vanilla. I then poured out 2 more servings. I sprinkled on Cinnamon over 1/2 of the serving without vanilla and over 1/2 of the serving with vanilla. I let it cool on my counter top for about 30 minutes and then put it in the fridge. Here are my findings:- My favorite (by far) was the serving with the egg yolk, without vanilla and with cinnamon on top (I would have tried nutmeg, but I didn't have any in the house). This was the closest to the taste of Jell-O. It's not exactly the same, but it's similar. It tasted pretty good, but it needed some type of "warm" spice and a little more sweetness. I think that is why I liked the custard with cinnamon on top. The custard without cinnamon was just too bland.- Some people said the custard didn't set. Maybe they forgot to boil the mixture. And I am sure the beaten egg yolk I added helped as well. Mine set up after a few hours in the fridge. It was not super duper firm, but firm enough.- The vanilla changed the flavor of the custard too much. It tasted like "vanilla" custard. Maybe I splashed in too much or maybe I should have added it during the cooking process. I am not sure that I will add it next time, unless I heated it.I know this a product on it's own and shouldn't be compared to another product...but if you loved Jell-O brand custard, this might be a good substitute for you. It's not the same but it's very similar. And with a few tweaks, I am hoping to get as close as possible to replicating the taste I remember.Just my rambling thoughts. Hope it helps.**EDIT 12/9/19**I made another batch of this custard, hoping to make it taste like the Jello Americana custard I knew and loved...and I think I did a pretty good job replicating the flavor...this is what I did:To the dry box ingredients (I just made 1 box), I added:1 tablespoon white, granulated sugar1/2 teaspoon nutmeg1 teaspoon cinnamon (next time I might do 1/2 teaspoon)To the milk, I added:1 beaten egg yolk1/4 teaspoon vanillaI then made the custard using the package instructions. It came out delicious!! Very similar to Jello.

Very good
This is the 2nd order for this egg custard. Very easy to make and very good. I, like other custard customers, have missed the instant custard that they used to sell in grocery stores. But this egg custard comes the closest for me in taste.

Do Not Recommend
Bought this product because I had read the reviews saying it was a good substitute for Jello’s discontinued American Egg Custard. I made it today following the directions completely and was highly disappointed. It tasted nothing like it and it was not even close. It barely had a taste which definitely wasn’t that of an egg custard and after more than a hour in the refrigerator it did not even set up like a custard normally does. So disappointing and now I have a second box of it which I have no plans of making.

Not what I thought it was
If you are looking for real egg custard to make a pie with like I did, it does not taste the same. Hardly any flavor at all..

Tastes Great!
Very easy to make. I used to eat egg custard made by Jell-O when I was growing up… Can’t seem to find it anywhere. Found this on Amazon, and I am very happy I did! It tastes great!!
