Funai DV220FX4 DVD Player/VCR Combo

The DVD player came earlier than expected. It was exactly as posted. Works well.

Does a fine job but be aware there are no coaxial inputs on this. Apparently none of the new vcrs have them because they have no tuners. This means you can not record without a set top box from your cable company to input a video signal that previously would have come directly from the cable coax line and you must also purchase an RF modulator to send the video signal from the tape or dvd you are watching to the tv. It also means that to watch regular programming on your tv this unit must be turned off, so no convenient way to switch back and forth.

We purchased 2 recorders last year. One played on SLP and the other only on SP. The one that played on SLP will now only records on SP. We purchased 2 more this year, one to replace the 10+ years Mitsubishi that the had and the other for a spare. The recent purchase only plays on SP and the picture is distorted for a while and voices sound like actors inhailed helium or are underwater. There are times when we like to record programs on different days/times. Don't trust programming. The last 2 purchaes does not have windows to see time, etc. If we record at 8:00 and do not want to watch that program have to take to another one see to forward an hour. These recorders are a waste of money. Don't think these recorderss will last us veery long. Guess it's time to get a cable box that will record up to 8 programs at a time. Maybe Funai better go back to the drawing board or stop making recorders.Thanks for listeningWade and Jan Stinebaugh
