Straight forward
Does not go into depth but covers everything a newbie needs to know. I like this series of books. A curious person and get an overall picture and decide if he/she wants to know more.

You guys have judged this too harshly
Options is an area that is very complex, and, if anything, the author dumbed it down too much. There are a lot of ways to make mistakes with options. This book does a good job of covering the basics and beyond. If you are having trouble understanding parts of it, don't blame the book. The subject matter is difficult for those new to it. Take your time with this material. Unlike other areas of study, being wrong in options can cost you money. While the author lists some pros and cons with paper trading, I found it to be useful for my own learning. Look for a brokerage that offers this. This will also help you get used to the mechanics of opening and closing positions without risking actual money. Also, you do not have to master the numerous strategies discussed in the book to make use of options. You can buy single calls and puts and gain leverage while keeping thigs simple. The author has written more advanced books when you are ready to dig into the statistics more deeply.

Don't let the title fool you.
I've purchased these books on different subjects, and they have always proven informative, but can be a tough read. I do like the format and with a little work it makes sense.

Challenging Topic made all the more so by this book
The book is rife with grammatical errors. While I was able to discern what the author meant by the context of the sentence, the fact that this got through the proof-reading stage does not encourage me. I have only read the first 100 pages and can report that the first two chapters serve to direct readers to further chapters in the book; I assume this is common to the "Dummies" series but reading these introductory chapters was a waste of time. Lastly, the book would have been improved with some examples illustrating mathematical concepts. As advertised, the book may be a companion to the booklet your broker provides you when you are authorized to begin trading options but readers should expect to have to supplement this book with Internet research. Caveat Emptor.
