gone but not 'furever'
I rated this as a four because I did like the book. This book was recommended to me by a friend since I had lost my Snowball Chance in January. Our cat (Snowball Chance) came to us after losing his master and being locked in a no AC home with temps close to 100. He had a "snowball chance" to get along with our other three cats at home. An inside cat, Snowball was a cuddler and a lover. At the age of 14 he developed diabetes in August 2013. I am putting dates because it is pertinent to my story. His life then became two shots of insulin daily, special food and numerous trips to the vet for blood work. Gradually he did gain some weight. We felt he was on the road to recovery. On Sunday, December 15, 2013 he escaped out the door when we let our dog outside. Missing and not having his food or insulin, he was doomed. After midnight on the following Wednesday, my husband told me to wake up that there was a white cat crawling over my body. Snowball, I screamed with joy. His little paws were caked with mud and how ever survived that long we will never know. We knew this was a Christmas miracle. God's gift to us. He no longer required his insulin but still ate his special diet food. January 7, Snowball went downhill fast. Back to the vet with no promises, we lost our Snowball Chance. The thought of losing him once and knowing we lost him the second time is devastating. I needed some comfort but it wasn't until the last couple of chapters that I felt some peace. I hurt. I still hurt. I recommend this book to those who seek comfort. God loves us. God loves his animals. When their time is up and He calls them home, we will be together again with Him.

Evangelical Creationism
This book has some good things going for it, which is why I went ahead and gave it a star for that. The author is extremely compassionate for animals and does hold the belief that we will see our pets in heaven! Someone with such a sweet spirit, I know I would like to know personally. However, there was so much that turned me off that I could not give more than 2 stars. For one, his writing style is so redundant! He says the same thing over and over for page after page, and it often comes out as rambling thoughts. I would be able to get past that, though. What really turned me off is that he frequently seemed to forget what his book was to be about, going into page after page of how he became a Christian, or telling how Satan is alive and active in our world. He views the Bible as the final say when determining facts....even trumping science; thus, his disbelief in evolution. In one chapter he says that animals do not have a sixth sense or instinct. Their behaviors are all learned. Humans though have that extra sense which is what leads us to seek God. From there, the rest of the chapter (pretty much all of it) is about God working in various people's lives. There is nothing wrong about writing inspirational stories, except they overshadowed the reason why I wanted to read this book! While he says that animals are souls that go to heaven, they do not communicate with us in our dreams or appear as apparitions. He may be right, but he says it's the same with people. No communication from the other side even in dreams. He then goes into a long explanation on how Satan makes us THINK we had a dream visitation...with pets OR people.I have read reviews from people who read this book AND his first book, and while they had the same impressions as me on "Wagging Tails in Heaven," they claim the first book is so much better, that he doesn't get on a preachy soap box. I will likely give that a try someday. At the end of this book there is a sneak peak chapter to the next one about talking to children when a pet dies. I read that chapter and agree with everything he said! So, the author does have comforting words to say about pet loss, it's just that "Wagging Tails" is much more than that topic. It did not resonate with me when he got off topic which was a huge portion of the book.

Faith and confort in Gods loveing hands
This book is a great book for anybody who has lost their beloved pet, Gary Kurz helps heal the wounds of losing your pet, and helps connect you with God again, as it should be. He gives you the hope and belief that we all know about God loving all the things he made. When I got this book, I lost my beloved Molly, and I wasn't feeling to good about God, but to me this book came to me to tell me that God is in the works, and by Gary Kurzs, religious beliefs, with compassion for us, it got me through the bad feelings I had. I recommend this book to all that believe in God, and all that need comfort for their loss.

Every Pet Parent Needs This Book
A very well presented school of thought regarding departed pets. Written in a conversational way, it will make you laugh, make you cry but will aid your understanding of how God views his creation....all of it. Yet, it deals with more than just the passing of pets. Chapter 9 is a powerful presentation of the Gospel message. Gary, the author, is Quick to respond to emails & it is evident he has a great love for people. I highly recommend this book especially to my fellow animal lovers.

Dreadful
I wish that I had never opened the cover of this book. An insulting sermon to those of us who do not follow the author's beliefs. The book is little more than a platform for his religious rantings.
