Super useful deshedding tool
I have a hound dog who does not look like she ought to shed much but loses buckets of fur come spring and summertime. She got to the point where she left tufts of white fur wherever she went; gobs would literally fall off when you petted her. I am a fan of the Furminator brush but the price was a little to steep for my budget. The Andis was significantly less expensive and so I figured I would give it a go.FIrst of all, the vibration feature. I'm not sure if it actually gets more hair off, but it certainly keeps my dog's attention (maybe a little too much, she wants to nibble on it sometimes). In any case, this tool gets a mind-boggling amount of fur off her. It also seems gentler on the skin than the Furminator brush, and it leaves her coat very shiny. For the price, it's definitely worth a try if you have a shedding dog. No, it's not going to work very well if you have a low-shed dog like a Yorkie, but why would you use a de-shedding tool on a non-shed dog, anyhow?

Outstanding brush, especially for my Huskies
I have three Huskies that DO NOT like to be brushed. As anyone that has Huskies knows, however, you MUST brush your Huskies, who seem to have a major shed twice a year. I have tried numerous brushes and many have worked well, but I have never found any brush that actually overcame my Huskies aversion to being brushed. I thought I would give this brush a try because of the vibration feature, but, alas, they don't like being brushed by this brush any more than any other I have used. The bottom like on this is that if you have a dog that doesn't like being brushed, I doubt this brush will change their disposition. The QUALITY of the brush, however, WILL change. The amount of undercoat that this brush pulls out with ease is astonishing. It's efficiency at doing this is so good it allows me to greatly reduce the amount of brushing time needed, which reduces the amount of time I have to spend with an annoyed, vocal Husky. It's hard to believe that something as simple as a brush could be designed so differently that it would be that much more efficient, but, somehow, it is. I will warn you, though, that you should probably either use this brush outdoors or in an area in your house that you can easily vacuum or sweep up. The brush pulls out so much undercoat, you will literally be swimming in fine hairs after a good brushing. All in all, this is an amazing brush, particularly if you have a breed with a heavy undercoat. I highly recommend this brush to Husky owners. Howl on!

Great Product
I'm not experienced with De-shedder devices other then taking a brush to my dogs fur and brushing off hair. Using this is almost the same except I feel like it takes a lot more hair off at once. The vibrating function of this I guess works. It's not loud and it seems to keep my dogs from moving to much. For being my first time using something like this I was kinda scared because you can feel at times hair getting stuck and pulling kinda like brushing your long hair. But my dogs didn't seem to be too concerned or hurt. One con I have is that you need to get hair off the teeth as it will start to clump as you do multiple passes. Sometimes the clumps of hair fall off by themselves. When they don't it seems like the device doesn't work as efficiently. Not a big deal though.

LOW Price, HIGH Quality!
My tomcat loves this thing in the late spring/early summer when he starts shedding his winter coat. It removes gobs of loose fur that would normally be left on the furniture or on me when I pick him up. I'm always amazed at how much loose fur is removed with each light brushing and my cat always seems happier the rest of the day.At first, the vibrating action seemed like a gimmick. I was afraid it would scare him but surprisingly my cat seems to enjoy it. It's like a gentle massage while he is being brushed. Battery life is excellent. This is the second year with the original battery.I'm careful not to brush him hard or too much at one time because I read de-shedders can produce bald spots if you overdo it. This has not been my experience with this de-shedder. A gentle brushing here and there every other day during the heavy shedding season seems to do the trick. My cat decides when he has had enough brushing. He usually walks away a few times each session, then comes back for more. When he walks away and lays down, that's enough. This way he continues to enjoy it. No need to push him because I sure don't want this big cat to push back.It has caught and pulled individual whiskers a couple times. He let out a meow but it must not have hurt too much because he kept coming back for more brushing. This problem isn't unique to this de-shedder. I'm sure it could happen with any de-shedder like this design. Now, I'm a little more careful around his whiskers and all is good. For $6-7, the Andis 40085 Power De-Shedder (small) is a bargain and a 5 star product!

Dogs love it!
This tool works extremely well on our two big furballs. Our yard in spring is filled with dog hair tumbleweeds. It has, however, caused jealous feelings between our dogs. Neither seems to care whether it vibrates or not.We also take this tool to our local rescue shelter so we can keep the dogs presentable. As with any shelter, there are some dogs that have been mistreated and are skittish of being brushed. We have acheived some positive results with the vibrating action here. Sometimes we use it to massage the nervous dogs whether they need brushed or not.Lastly, be prepared to answer questions. Everyone who sees it will want to know how well it works ("OH LOOK! IT VIBRATES!"), how much $, and where you buy it.
