Nice guide which has gotten wet
Nice guide to Toronto, but this book has a visible water damage, affecting 80% of the pages. OK for a book labelled as "used", but IMHO this is not a condition I'd call "good".

Very Basic!
Published in February 2020, this small guide certainly is practical in terms of size, as it can easily be slipped into a coat pocket. The drawback of course is that the information provided is cursory, what is aggravated by its ambition to cover everything: sights, eating, drinking, entertainment, etc. Thus, the book is useful for a very short stay or as a reminder of things to see and do. Any in depth information must be sought elsewhere. It must be pointed out that the author is experienced in travel writing but lives in the United States and does not seem to have any special connection with Toronto.

Pretty much the essential Toronto survival guide
The media could not be loaded. If you’ve bought a Lonely Planet guide before, you already know the drill and probably don’t need to see this review. If not, read on. My copy spent a week travelling backwards and forward across the city… and saved a small fortune on mobile data charges. For the purpose of the book, the author has broken the city down into several main areas, including the entertainment district, Yorkville, East Toronto, Old Town, and others. For each area there are recommendations on things to do, places to eat, and maps to help you get around. At the back of the book, there is a useful city map which you can pull out and walk around with in true old-school tourist fashion. For everything else, there is Google Maps. The author has provided some nice personal touches as well as some essential details that you might need to know. For instance, a useful section on tipping culture, which is largely alien – and equally bewildering – to European travellers.Saying that, there are limitations to this format. It is a book, after all, which means that one day it will be out of date. Thankfully, at the time of writing this review, the book is only a few months old. And further down the line, we always have the internet.Think of this as a survival guide or, at the very least, a good read to get you in the mood before you touch down in Toronto. Happy travelling!
